Game is making me dizzy? **Is it type 1 or type 2 related.
Was playing last night and got so motion sick that I had to go to bed. This has never happened to me in 30+ years of gaming. Anyone else having an issue?

I thought it might be frame gen, so I'm going to turn that off and try again today. But, holy crap it was miserable.

There's an option to turn off head bob, that wasn't in the original anyway.

Thanks.

Yeah, I tried that. Didn't help. But I was already sick at that point so we'll see if it helps today.

civ is ending
It might also be a field of view thing, try and play around with that too. There's also a motion blur toggle which might help? Are you getting any frame stutter? I would get terrible motion sickness in VR when a game visually stuttered and I wonder if its similar, there is a reasonable stutter fix on Nexusmods that I'd recommend

Could be field of view yea, increase both of those.

Dizziness is most likely do to the Field of View.

This game use 75 which is not anymore the standard since decades.
Try raise it to 85-90, which is the FOV or modern games.

My current only issue with the game is the vertical (not horizontal) field of view is VERY narrow. normally you'd have a ratio like 97 to 65 or 90 to 65. just by guessing i'd say it's 55 or 50. it looks bizzare.
I haven't got around to actually playing this yet, but I don't usually get motion sickness unless I am already ill. A couple of times gaming has diagnosed an illness I didn't know I had.

Hope you manage to get it sorted, it is awful. I always turn off motion blur, but might be worth messing with lighting options too. VenusVexed might have a point about stuttering or flickering, too.

Can vertical FOV not be changed? I play 3rd person so maybe that only applies to 1st person?

I tossed the original Oblivion in the Trash because I got so motion sick on the Xbox.

No it's extremely rare for there to be a separate option for vertical fov. It's usually based on a formula like hor+ hor- vert+ vert- with a set ratio by the developer. There is an console variable called r.UseLegacyMaintainYFOVViewMatrix which can be set to true which might (but maybe not) change the ratio, but it's also changing the viewmodel FOV (weapon, hands, shield, torch) to way too high. It's normal for there to be a separate console variable for viewmodel fov but there isn't as far as I can see.

At this point the best I could I do is browse UE5 documents. They're all public and very helpfull.

I'm getting minor motion sickness, and a headache :(

Well I get this occasionally in any other game. And this is related to couple of things. First thing if you are playing 4k you need stable 60fps....head moves also need to be turned off. This will reduce motion sickness.

Thanks for the responses. I turned head bob off and increased fov to 87 when I first started the game so it's doubtful that;s the issue. Running at 1440p and I do get occasional stutters. Will check out Nexus mods. Just glad to see I'm not the only opne.
