what the f is wrong with this game
10 hours of play time and absolutely plagued with issues so far.
had high hopes for it in the first sewer part where it was running 140 fps on high settings until hitting outside where it immediately dropped to 20-30fps.
i then spent the next 2 hours playing with graphic options trying to find the best looking best fps settings.
i finally got it running at 50-70 fps outside, only for it to start constantly crashing on load screens. i quickly learnt to start quick saving before every load screen. even a simple door into a house. 90% of the time it crashed on load screen and i had an issue interacting with the orb in the tower in oblivion plane where it crashed 6 times in a row before finally letting me load into the next area after messing with my settings again.
as well as this, in some outside areas it randomly tanks to 15-25 fps. this seems to happen after about half an hour of gameplay. im lucky if i see it these days because the game is crashing so much i dont get to play for half an hour straight.
ive tried all the fixes from nexus and they seem to work for a time, before the frame drop starts kicking in after im playing for a while.
one time, the game crashed so hard it restarted my pc.
another time i got a blue screen 10 minutes after the game crashed.

my pc does not have issues with any other games like this. ive played non UE5 games like cyberpunk and rdr2 at ultra settings getting a smooth 70-80 fps.
on this game, im not even trying to play on ultra. my current graphics settings are a mix of low, medium, and a couple on high. using fsr balanced with frame gen, and playing at 1080p. these issues should NOT be happening. all overlays are disabled and there are no intensive background processes open or even a browser.

before all the clowns come in dropping their specs saying their game runs fine- i dont care. your comment is pointless and contributes nothing.
my pc is not a potato and was just upgraded a couple of years ago. i should not need to drop 2k upgrading to the latest parts when i'm over minimum requirements for the game.
specs:
RX 6650 XT 8gb
16gb ddr4 ram
i5-11400 cpu
there is nothing wrong with the hardware as like i said it can run other games beautifully, and im not even trying for max settings here. just something reasonable and expecting not to experience such heavy fps loss and constant crashes.

Upgrade your RAM. RAM is the cheapest thing for PCs.

started looking at that today too. sadly my ram's been discontinued now so the only option to get aesthetically matching sticks is ebay, at more than the price was when it retailed :steamsad:
I had a drop in frames too from tutorial to hitting outside. Im on a RTX 5080 but it was more like 200 fps down to 60

But I figured out if I just switched from hardware Ray Tracing to Software based ray tracing the fps leveled back to about 150 with DLSS on quality and frame gen. There was such a little difference in the lighting to me.

My specs are as follows

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: GeForce RTX™ 5080
Ram: CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 64GB
MOBO: ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WiFi

yeah thats such an insane drop even on a high end card. oblivion doesnt really need ray tracing honestly, its a shame we dont have the option to turn software rt off completely. i turned hardware off and have software on low

I seen a post on here saying you can turn of the ray tracing in with game files on your PC.
I turned on DLSS - Frame generation. Immediately went from 70 fps to 120
there unreal ini edits on nexus , check that out
while i dont have the option for dlss since im not using nvidia, i do have fsr with frame gen on which did give a heavy boost that set me to the 50-70 i get when starting the game. but even with that, after playing for half an hour the frames still drop to 15-20

ive tried those, and my problems remain after using the engine.ini fixes. however there is an update to one already so ill try the updated version and see if it does anything
i love how opening your menu locks the game up for a few seconds every single time, and how you have to turn windows HDR off to have the brightness setting work.
i have a 9950x3d and 5070 ti and 64gb ram and its running fine for me. are you sure you haven't messed something up?

It's a bethesda game.
Playing without an unofficial patch is very brave.
