"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system..." Just upgraded my GPU and I'm still getting this error message.
Got this error message after installing this morning:
"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument."

Confirmed DX 12 was installed. Spent an hour going through fixes and trouble shooting before deciding I probably need to upgrade my GPU.

Just bought and installed new GPU (RTX 4060) and I'm still getting the same error message. Drivers are up to date, clean install.

Has anyone who got this error message actually got it going?

Same issue. I have a 2070 and just ordered a 5070. If it still doesn't work i am going to lose my mind.
I've seen a couple of people say you need direct X 12_2, which doesn't come with win10. Going to try upgrading to win11 and see how that goes...
I think it's something the devs will have to patch. My pc should support it but it doesn't
My windows install is pretty scrubbed anyway. I'll be able to report back whether it makes a difference whether you have directx 12_2 or not.

Either You have outdated Windows 10 (see the store page) or GPU driver, assuming you plugged monitor into the dorrect DP/HDMI output.

Neither is DX12 Ultimate a requirement (see minimum hardware requirements) nor it has any problem running on Windows 10 if you have it updated and have a GPU that supports that (the DX12 U, which again, is not a requirement for this game).

What you heard is either completely false or you misunderstood.

GPU drivers and windows updates were definitely up to date.

Installed win11, dxdiag now shows directx12_2. Game now runs. For those struggling with the DX12 error message, installing win 11 was the thing that made the difference for me.

Running fine on Windows 10 for me... DX12 Ultimate is installed and works fine, including ray tracing support and DirectStorage.

Keep in mind that Microsoft stopped offering major updates for deprecated Windows 10 builds, i.e. for builds v1809, it will tell you "you're fine" if you go into Windows Update screen.

Similarily, for example Nvidia GeForce Experience is known to not offer updates if you sit on legacy driver install (R4xx.xx), so folks that had even RTX3000 cards were told "no updates" yet were sitting on years old drivers.

DX12U is both available on supported Windows 10 build, and is not a requirement (both minimum required GPUs do not support it).
