Can't fight in the arena?

It's within hours, I'm wearing the right armor, but Owyn says I can't fight because I'm not wearing my battle raiment?? If I take it off he says its after hours even though it's not.

same, but he keeps telling me to come back later due to arena schedule, no matter the time i approach to him

I tried a mod on the nexus called "unlocked arena" It worked for like 2 fights, but when i reached the sisters, I beat them and It said I couldn't leave until I defeated my opponents. I Uninstalled it and he went back to saying I wasn't wearing the raiment.

hopefully it gets patched soon. This is the exact kind of bug i'm used to having in Bethesda games lol. It's always a quest that bugs out

I'm worried they're not going to patch this. I had the exact same bug in the original oblivion on 2 characters in a row. The same bug is still here, and I have 19 hours played on my current character and i know i have to restart AGAIN, and i'm dreading it. This is the strangest remaster ever. They went through the trouble to have a new voice actor do that one messed up line. The same, incredibly easy duplication glitch is still working the same as before. This game is actually built on top of the old one. All 4.7 GB of the original are still there, just with a fancy Unreal wrapper that's a mile thick. There's even hundreds of mods that work perfectly with both versions without any changes needed. So, why would they fix this bug that's been in since the old oblivion, if they're trying to preserve it?

I have hope they will fix bugs like this, but if not I know in a couple of days this could be fixed by a mod. I would rather actual not fun bugs be fixed, I have no problem with them keeping the fun bugs in, but stuff like this should probably be fixed.

What worked for me was to unequip my Arena Rainment and then talk to Owyn, he then let me advance to the next fight. I had to do this for every next fight.

wow really? i never experienced that one... not even in the og... the amount of bugs i never knew about that are carrying over is astounding lol

just tells me the arena is closed and i need to come back during hours

I have 31 hours in this playthrough and my arena quest is locked because of this issue. I took off all my armor and waited 72 hours plus and still nothing. Traveled to every city on the map and talked to owyn and nothing. Worst bug in any Bethesda game by far.

I don't know if you've already been able to fix the problem, but I've found a possible solution while Bethesda fixes the bug. After trying all the solutions posted in the community (changing armor, going naked, sleeping for 72 hours), nothing worked, and this is the only thing that worked for me. I figured out when I create a new character because i was unable to advance in Arena quest line and I touch one of that Rune Stones when I finish my first fight in the arena and, surprise, it was bugged again so I think It's because of the Bound Weapons/Armor you get by touching a Rune Stone (you know, those stones that give you magical weapons for a limited time) or even the spells that gives you magic weapons but I never try those so I cannot say if the spells affect to the bug too.

If you touch one of those Runestones while wearing Arena Armor, it seems the Arena questline gets bugged (I don't know why, to be honest, but it's a huge bug).

To fix this, simply return to one of those stones with any normal armor on (I was wearing the full set of blade armor, if that helps) and touch one of those rune stones that conjure weapons and armor again. Once you have them equipped (the magic weapons the stone gives you), change your normal armor to the Arena armor and fast travel to the Imperial City Arena (the weapons' effects should have disappeared with fast travel; if not, wait for them to disappear before entering the arena basement).

Then simply go in and talk to Owyn at the Arena combat schedule, and he'll let you fight (he no longer tells you the "you're not wearing armor" dialogue or that it's not time even when it is).

I don´t know if this workaround works for everyone with this problem. I just want to share what worked for me in order to help other players with the same issue until Bethesda fixes this.

For make your life easier I will attach a map with the nearest Rune Stone of the Arena, Hestra Rune Stone north to the imperial city bridge:

You saved me with this. What an insane bug. Wanted to reiterate if anyone else runs into this issue:

1) wear random armor
2) touch the rune stone to get its armor
3) while the rune armor is on, attempt to equip the Arena armor
4) fast travel to the arena.
5) actually wear the arena armor

I did this slightly incorrectly a couple times but eventually following these steps exactly fixed it. Also in step 3, for me at least, attempting to equip the Arena raiment fails, but visually it looks like it works, at least in the menu IIRC.
