Worked fine last night. Now constant crashing
Hello, for me the game worked fine last night. I played for 5 hours straight and now the game will just not stay alive for 2 minutes. It runs at 50-60 fps then suddenly dips to 20 then freezes. Every single time. I am reinstalling the game right now. This sucks cuz I took PTO to play today and I haven’t played at all. It’s been a constant battle for 4 hours now

Can you provide any more detail about what may have changed between yesterday and today, no matter how innocuous it might seem?

-Different background applications?
-Did you shut down or restart overnight?
-Did you take temperature or task manager load readings (processor, memory, gpu etc) that might help isolate the problem?
-anything else you can think of
The only thing I’ve noticed (I haven’t changed anything), was that my 16gb of ram is maxed out when I kill the application after it freezes. Is this something to worry about?
Yes, it probably is. You may have a memory leak somewhere. What's taking up the memory? Have you tried simply restarting again?

Make sure you don't have firefox/chrome tabs open when you play. They can hog ram and 16gb feels like barely enough for me.
Hmm ok. I’ll try closing stuff too when I get it reinstalled

Ive noticed that it will use up to 22gb of RAM on its own. Its just that if the game doenst flush its memory cache every so often you just run out of memory and it crashes. Its not a memory leak, it just uses a ton of it at once.
Well I cannot get it to load properly anymore. I deleted my Nvidia cache, I installed that popular oblivion remastered engine ini mod that’s supposed to fix stability and that did nothing as well. This is tragic :(
My guess is that your initial play session generated some temp files somewhere that are causing issues. I would search the hard drive for any file created *after* your initial installation, and see what might be hiding on your hard drive. Deleting the Nvidia cache was a good start, but keep looking, especially since you have the day off!

Also dont forget to do obvious things like restart, close all applications, follow up and delete extra files and directories manually after you do an uninstall, things like that. If it worked before, you can get it to work again. Though there's no guarantee the problem wont recur after your initial play session.
My cpu is maxing out entirely. The memory comes close but the CPU goes to 100% and stays there and it appears thats when the game has problems. I have an i5 9600k and 16gb of ram.
To be clear: the game runs fine when i can get it to load in and i walk around for 20 seconds. It runs at like 60fps then just... dies

UPDATE* Disabled FSR and simply used normal anti-aliasing and the crashing in menus stopped, so, fake frames generation was causing the driver crashes in my case

Im happy you figured it out. I think im gonna just give up and wait for an update i suppose. Very sad. Whole day off for literally nothing lol
Yeah, I have 32 GB of RAM and I had to get a mod to disable the Lumen raytracing crap to run it at High Ultra settings at over 100+ fps but after awhile the frames will randomly drop and lower all the way down in the 20's and worse, it's just terrible optimization dude and I'm disappointed as well, I worked all day yesterday and when I got home the game just refuses to function unfortunately
