Why do you like Oblivion?
So uh, I don't like Oblivion. I have a negative review on the original's store page explaining why but I'm not gonna dredge any of that up here, that's not the point of this thread.

The point of this thread is that I genuinely want to know 'why' you like Oblivion (be it the old one or the new one) as I quite literally don't see any redeemable aspect of the game at all.

Yet there is a lot of people who's favorite TES game is Oblivion. There's something here that I'm not getting. So, why do you like it?

Two reasons: Shivering Isles! And, well... Shivering Isles!

Yeah I find those moments really funny but honestly I'd rather watch youtube clips of them than occasionally stumble into them myself.

The music. It's perfect.

The quests are fairly interesting and the world and atmosphere are great. It's an Elder's Scrolls game. I don't get how you can dislike it if you like Morrowind or Skyrim. It's just a different flavor of the Elder Scrolls formula. Also for the time it came out it was head and shoulders above most other games in terms of scope, graphics etc.

Oblivion was my first entry to The Elder Scrolls and for its time was the best game around by far and that lasted for years. Modded it was superb. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I hope there's mannequins in this reskin.

I like the feeling of the story and the monsters the world has. Feels like im traveling through middle earth, sure its not a super in depth RPG but there is still fun to be had.
It was well ahead of the curve when it came out...not that you would get that feeling from this embarrassing remaster.

I like the landscape and the quests. I think the quests are more interesting than skyrim. Skyrim still has the more interesting landscape but oblivion remaster did it justice.
People like what they like. We won't always understand it.

I don't understand cosplay, but dang. Those cosplayers really get into it up to impressive and inspirational levels, but I still don't get it.
The Remastered looks like absolute ♥♥♥♥, I used to love its aesthetic.

(I loathe Skyrim and I only find Morrowind mildly enjoyable)

Last I played Oblivion I was disinterested with the world because it was just trees, rocks and bushes copy pasted across the topography. Is the world more detailed with its design this time around?

It's the game that made me buy a PC at the time (for the mods). It took me out of the childish world of consoles and made me a man.

Also it's a lot more colourful than Skyrim. Some real lush forests and in contrast you had the Oblivion gates were it's just fire and brimstone. The music as well. The dlcs are pretty cool. It's easily one of my favourite games. I was thinking about firing the original up, mod it and play that for weeks. Now I have this lol
I don't.
