Where to store items?
Title.
Sorry guys, I used to play Oblivion a lot but, I forgot how to play cool lol.
Before I get a first house, where can I store my items safely?
(Or should I go get a house real quick for my first storage?)

In Aleswell north of the lake there's a little quest to do and they give you a free room with a non respawning chest, it's nice until you get a house AND can purchase upgrades (i.e. don't store in your house containers until you've bought furniture)

Jauffre's chest is safe unless they changed it. It's the one that has supplies that he gives you when you give him the amulet. Also, the house in the Imperial Waterfront is pretty cheap.

You could also join the Imperial arena, which makes the arena basement a sort of unofficial headquarters for you. You're free to loot all the weapons and armor down there, and store your items safely in all the containers in that room.

ehm Guys ... I don't know if you noticed or am I missing something ... the Loot window is only one Way ... you can only loot, no storing

Whenever I start a new playthrough of Oblivion I always do the same, as soon as I leave the Sewers, I make a beeline for the Arena and join up.

It's a good source of easy early money, as well as access to a bed and containers to store your gear, not to mention that the arena rainment is a pretty decent early-game armor, and you get a lot of free weapons by looting the basement once you join up.
