It's as simple as that. Or maybe it does matter afterall?
Oblivion had male and female option, body 1 and 2 is a retcon. Let people mod it out if they don't want it. No need for essays or ad hominems.
But if I had gone on Nexus 20 years ago, I wouldn't have had any problem finding and downloading a mod to set gender to male or female.
You guys usually respond with: "Why do you care so much?"
Perfect — then you tell me why Nexus cares about removing mods that reset gender to male or female, or mods that allow you to change a character from Black to white.
Freedom of expression and speech is a two-way street.
Why should I let it go when others don’t?!

So why are complaining about issues with the Nexus here in a post that has nothing to do with mods? WTF does Steam have to do with it?
I'm not in favor of removing mods that don't do anything illegal, but that has nothing to do with the way character creation works in the game.
It's not a valid point regarding what people are complaining about that the Nexus is removing mods or banning people. That's them, and has nothing to do with this.
Those are entirely different people and a separate entity and issue. Go talk about that in one of the threads about what the Nexus did. It's not relevant at all here.
People have an issue in the singleplayer game, a modder comes up fixes it, nexus mods interjects and stops it, so people will talk about the issue they have with the game in the game forums, it may not be "correct" but it's how people work.
