Ah, the old turn off ray tracing. Literally mirroring Jedi Survivor
I was going to troll, but really...
You probably have a permissions issue where the game is installed. You should try moving it out of PROGRAM FILES and elsewhere. Steam and its files (and games) shouldn't be installed there because default security settings force all applications that run there to run in user mode and restricted permission.
Antivirus programs also may interfere with programs running from PROGRAM FILES location.
This fixed my game. But I also disabled Steam Cloud and Steam Overlay for good measure.
I just received my refund despite having played for 2.9 hours. Maybe there's some wiggle room as long as you haven't played for too long. I also motivated my refund request by describing the severity of the problem, and explaining that a good chunk of the play time was troubleshooting and shader comp.
Update: 4 hours without a single crash
Extremely disappointed as I have been so excited to play. Any Nvidia users out here with any suggestions? All drivers are brand new, ran every diagnostic I can it seems like a software issue.
