Npc count
Thinking of buying the game so i watched some videos online. What i noticed is that the world feels empty even in towns there are like 3-5 npcs i saw which kinda ruins the immersion for me. Are there really not many npcs? Even just random no named npcs would be fine. I have played skyrim and fallout 4 and although those games did not have an abundance of npcs it still felt enough that the world and towns did not feel empty. Thoughts for those that played the remaster? This is the deciding factor for me which people may find my reasoning stupid but it is important for my immersion in bethesda games.

It will feel empty yeah. Sadly they didn't change it from 2006. They capped it at 20 NPCs and you won't see that many outside of scripted events.
If you are not apposed to mods, then i will wager that before long there is mods increasing npc count.

Nope. Towns aren't empty at all. You can walk through the main city and see for yourself. It's a hell lot of fun to watch all the npcs talking to each other.

All original Oblivion NPCs are there

I love when you first exit the sewer and wander over to Roseys Tavern (sp?). As soon as you enter the tiny room 5 people are all talking over each other at you. LOL

This is false. The game has a hard cap of 20 NPCs per cell. In the cities like Imperial you won't be seeing 20 in one area. Each district is it's own cell. They are also fragmented by interior and exteriors. Market district for intance often doesn't have more than a tiny handful. Whereas even in Morrowind you would have exponentially more.

They talk yes but there's next to no one in the cities.

Oblivion has more NPCs than Skyrim has. IIRC it's something like 1100 compared to 800 or something like that.

It's just an Elder Scrolls thing, you won't see loads of no name NPCs that are essentially just graphical objects like in Assasin's creed games. Different style of game. (Personally I prefer Elder Scroll's style)

PS: They also come out at certain times of day, for example you'll see a lot in the morning as everyone heads out to work and what not.
