Its not that difficult past adept...
I was playing the game on expert, currently level 8, and i just got martin to the blade temple.
I picked up a mace i found from a side quest requiring me to get to some cemetery and ran out of soul gems for it pretty fast.. even still.. with just a shield and the ability to dodge, this game isnt hard at all. Enemies have bad aim, and the dodge allows you to engage and disengage so easily that you really shouldnt be taking damage.

I picked an orc and the lord rune so i have 30% magic resist at level 1, and honestly getting hit by magic so far just tickles me even on expert difficulty. The game doesnt reward button mashing combat, but i like that. Fight someone, swing twice, black and back up, or dodge away, recover stamina repeat. I find myself actually attempting to DODGE attacks with movement and finding timings, as just attacking then dodging away either leaves you with very little stamina, or the enemy will charge attack you and gap close/hit you. Yes, if you do get hit the enemies CAN do stupid damage. Yes they take a dumb amount of beating before they go down.. but its a challenge, and not an impossible one, and i am enjoying it so far.

IDK why everyone is sh!tting on the game.

Bro go fight a Conjurer and 2 scamps and come back and tell me its not impossible
The difficulty balance is one of the worst I've seen in a new release. Adept is so east you run around naked punching things and never die but put it up a notch to expert and your dead in 2 hits and have to squint to see the damage your doing. Its so bad I can't believe they didn't notice. It's like selling a new car and forgetting to put doors on it

i have, i just focus the conjurer. you really have to adapt to enemies rather than play how you want. its best to learn conjuration yourself or get a companion early on just incase youre outnumbered, npcs also do absurd damage for some reason, as if not affected by the difficulty multiplier. i hit level 21 just today, and this is actually where it gets impossible. unless your npc/companion is leveled, nothing can actually fight end game enemies other than you. at best theyre just distractions.

its not difficult, the problem is that its BORING
i cleared Vilverin on Master difficulty and it took me over an hour cuz the bandits and skeletons took 30 hits to kill. not to mention they kill you in 4 hits. since there's no Achievements tied to difficulty, why would anyone subject themselves to that? i dropped it down to Adept and it's much more fun now, just like i remember it lol

leveling. much easier to level a warrior when enemies dont die in 4 hits, but 30 instead. pair with enchantments and i was max blunt and blade before i hit level 10

Once i got around level 20, i turned it back to adept as enemies start becoming a bit too strong in the end game. their damage isnt bad, but 30 hits is lucky if they die as many enemies now have healing in the form of potions or restoration.

Wolves are absurd on Expert!
I'm stuck at the sewers part because the damage vs level is insane.. I'm only level 4..
Currently chasing mudcrabs with a 100 H Katana to level like I'm Rocky Balboa.

LMAO adept the wolves cant even do s*** xD the damage difference is wacky .. holy crap

If you're going for a build other than high intelligence conjurer, it's ridiculous. I'm playing Thief and focusing on sneak, marksmanship, and blades and I barely do any damage to a marauder even with enchanted short swords, while they kill me in 2 hits, and this is on Expert. If I switch to Adept it's so easy that it's not even fun.

My 8x damage multiplier with sneak doesn't matter cuz it doesn't even damage half their health, and this is with trash mobs, let alone daedras and other stuff. I've pumped points into speed, I am dodging, jumping around, etc, but with a short weapon I still need to approach to hit, and it just isn't fun having to hit enemies 30+ times in order to do any decent damage at all.

There should be more difficulty options, or they should just bring the slider back, because the way it is right now it's just poorly designed even if you're dodging and not slashing mindlessly. No matter if you get better gear, build your character well, and prepare because the enemies will be above you in gear level anyways. It ruins the sense of progression from levelling.
