If you want to know which of the 3 components I have mentioned are causing the issue on your side, provide the following info:
Go to Steam client > Help > System Information
Copy and paste here the following info:
In Windows > Start Menu > Settings > System > About > Windows specifications
Hit "Copy", and paste it here as well:
Do you have another graphics chip in your laptop (AMD or Nvidia) ?
Means your GPU is too old to run the game. The remaster uses UE5 for the graphics side of the game, and that requires a very recent version of DX12 to run, one that is only supported on more modern gpus. I had the same issue trying to run a UE5 game on my old outdated work laptop that had a GTX 970 in it. There is no workaround for this, UE5 "REQUIRES" a newer gpu to even function.
Edit: I went and looked it up for you which gpus support it, you need a minimum of a GTX 2060 or newer.
GTX970M will run UE5 games that have Nanite, Lumen and VSM like this one tho.
Maxwell 2.0 fully supports DX12 FL12_1 that this engine needs.
It's Maxwell 1 that doesn't, so GTX960M and lower in laptops and GTX700 desktop.
Thanks for the follow up. I guess I'll play the remaster in a few years when I have a new computer (the current one is pretty new as of 2025 lmao) and it's a classic. We'll probably have The Elder Scrolls VI by then!
