Feels dated
Hi,

I've played the heck out of this game since 2006 and I was really looking forward to this remaster.

Now that I've played it for 5 or 6 hours, I feel the game's already dated.

Painting over the old game that we loved (or not) doesn't credit it truly as a remaster, IMO.
Yes, it is prettier, but somehow not that much.

I've been looking at a few of my screenshots of Red Dead Redemption 2 (a game 7 years old already) and it is significantly prettier than this one. The buildings have a much better scale, the sky doesn't look like a coloured ceiling and it certainly doesn't show its age.

I'm glad they tried something at Beth/Zenimax and this other studio, but it feels like a missed opportunity if you'll asked me.

It's not that impressive to me either and Unreal Engine 5 is a plague. That engine makes all the games look samey and the performance is awful.
Your answer reminds me that even Fallout 4 might look a bit better than this one sadly.

Well, it is almost two decades old, and it's technically a "remaster" and not a fully modernized remake, so I think that's a reasonable assessment.
thats because its not a full scale remake. Only thing remade where the graphics and assets. The core gameplay is oblivion from 06, with some improvements. Hence why they call it a remastered, not a remake.

What a terrible take.
From every single answers I've gathered right now, if you think this ain't truly a new game, what do you think of slicing the price in half because of it ?

I take it you are one of those ones who use remaster and remake interchangeably. Yes, painting over the old game does truly credit it as a remaster. It probably feels dated because it is not a remake.
An now it comes.

Actual reviews of the game right here.
Still I will wait a few more days maybe a week or two more then maybe buy the game.
sadly 2006 was 10 years ago
I take nothing, It's just common sense for me that a new remaster should be up to some modern standards.

A remake would be a re-imagining of the game. Trying to remaster something, much like in music, is to bring some new tech in the balance.

There's no QoL really and this engine and those textures don't tell me it is 2025.

Yes! This should never be priced as a brand new AAA game. It’s a graphical update. They’re reselling you the same old game with a new lick of paint. How do you people not see this as standard Bethesda from a mile away? And that’s coming from someone that loves Bethesda lmao.

And to make matters worse - it’s outsourced! So it’s essentially a third party mod. Why is it priced like that?
