constant "EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION" crash
edit: so i cant mark my own reply as a solution but tldr it was my ram's xmp being incompatible with my cpu, which was causing game crashes alongside system crashes. i disabled it and haven't had an issue since. leaving this topic up so people who are having the same issue not caused by their ram can find a solution!

encountering a constant crash that's preventing me from getting past the character creation. seems to happen at random but it's always the same error. before my shaders fully finalized, i kept getting this error window followed by a crash:
Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, trying lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting...
now since my shader cache is built, i'll just get random crashes that always have the same error:
EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0xffffffffffffffff
i've tried nexus engine fixes, verifying my files, renaming sl.pcl.dll (which actually made the issue worse), and installing the nvidia driver hotfix. i'm at a bit of a loss on what else to do. anyone have any ideas?

system specs:
windows 11 pro, version 24h2
amd ryzen 7 7700
nvidia geforce rtx 3060 (12gb vram)
32gb ram

why would that be the problem? a 3060 is obviously going to be running full throttle on pretty much any modern title

Yeah, OP is definitely mistaken. They don't know what they're talking about. The crash code typically signifies an XMP issue, and they likely Googled this. However, in this game specifically, the code is meaningless. I get the same one, and my XMP is stable. Any perceived stability they've gained is either placebo, coincidence, or just lucky. They needlessly messed with their XMP profile. The GPU running at max is also just normal with a 3060. This simply indicates their GPU is fully utilized, and is their hardware limitation.

happened after 2 hours of gameplay for me. Random crash during a fight now it wont load any saves without crashing.
This is a known issue with older GPU compiling shaders. Basically the compiler used up almost all your VRAM which then crashed the game with a memory error. Work around is to do a clean driver install with the driver that supports your card, then compile shaders. Now quit the game. By quitting you now have your compiled shaders and should now be able to run the game without running out of VRAM.

ack, i was worried that would be the case. well, hopefully it's a simple fix. ill report back if that works
Best of luck.
update: i was able to successfully rebuild my shader cache but the game is still experiencing constant crashes, and it even went so far to just stall my whole pc twice (and adding a bsod on top of that). i think im gonna have to wait for a week 1 patch or something because my god 😀

I'm getting crashes too. RTX 3090 on the latest hotfix drivers.

I'm getting the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION crashes too, on my 4090. Not super sure why. Thought it was XMP so I set my bios to default settings and it still happens.

Gonna agree with this since it happens on my setup with default profiles. I'm wondering if this is not system specific but actually the game code or UE5...

I have a ryzen 5 9600x, 32GB RAM DDR5 and a rx9070. Game still crashes every 10min or randomly stuck on loadscreens
I have a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5 6400, and an RX 9070 XT running off of a PCIe 5.0 nvme SSD and I got 4 crashes in 6.5 hours. All when loading between areas. All but one of them when fast travelling.
