Did they fix the leveling system?
In oblivion everything leveled with the player which is fine to an extent but for some reason the player would never be strong enough to fight most enemies do to how stats and skills worked. In the original game the most effective way to get stronger was ironically to not level up the class skills and use everything else to get the maximum attribute points so you would actually be strong enough to fight anything in the game. Did they fix this system?

No, they didn't fix it. But the block became imba, so overall it's fine. But playing on difficulty higher than adept is still a stupid click with an attempt to parry the enemy or jump away from him
Sorta? From what's i've seen anytime you level up you have 10 virtues to raise your attributes. With max +5 and max 3 raised at any one time.

So, if I was to make a ranger and play the character as I intended to play them would I be screwed?

There is no class order system. Each level gives 12 attribute points, which are freely distributed among any three stats.
It's a lot like Skryim, play as you want. No need to meta-game the leveling process anymore.

Why don't you just play the game and let go of your mothers hand for once in your life?

How dare people gather information before buying a game. What a dumb take.
I didn't think Oblivion needed much fixing. Wasn't this game hailed as the pinnacle of Bethesda leveling? This and Fallout: NV

I just started the game now, so I cant answer. But all other posts are kinda trashy so I decided to come here and discuss something interesting.

Nah, anything that require you to have a pad to keep watch on min/max leveling is outdated. Best mod oblivion has is keeping extra leveling point banked if not used.

The level scaling was broken. If you didnt plan your levels then you could end up wrecking your game. That or just never sleep...at all...EvErrr. No sleep, no level up.

Grab the moon sugar, Its going to be a long few years.

Objectively, the original oblivion has one of the worst pumping systems. Now it has been made more adequate. Skyrim has a much better system thanks to the skill tree.

Oh the level scaling? Ya, burn it with fire. I just thought the concensus was that the character leveling in ES games peaked in Oblivion. That's what people have said for a decade or so after Skyrim came out.
You get 7 major skills which have +20 for a starting skill. They also level faster.

Unlike the original, EVERY skill contributes to you leveling up. None of them have a limit so you don't have to worry about efficient leveling. When you level up you get 12 points that you can use. You can spend them as you please in every attribute but can level 3 attributes per level.

Luck requires 4 points for one level up compared to every other attribute.

So you can boost endurance without needing to level heavy armor, block or armorer, speed without leveling up things like light armor. You can really set up your character as you will.

Thank god. I think I'll actually finish Oblivion this time since they fixed my one problem I had with the original game.
