Oblivion on UE5 looks great, Virtuos needs to optimize it
Virtuos is also the studio that worked on Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition which shipped with abysmal performance and was patched.

Hopefully, it gets patched up by the developer, and a shader compilation prepass, so we don't stutter in game. This is all on the developer not UE5, they shipped unoptimized game code and no shader precompilation.

In the meantime, lowering Ultra Visibility to High helped outdoors.

The game has a shader compilation at the start... did you miss it?
Stuttering is just part of the Unreal Engine 5 unfortunately. I don’t think they’ll ever fully fix it. I’m running a 4090 and a 9800X3D, and it’s still a stutter fest. Not unplayable by any means. I’ve definitely seen worse, but it’s frustrating.
Yes, though if a developer doesn't configure this properly, it will miss plenty of shaders, and compile them at runtime, which is clearly happening :)

There is no UE5 engine stuttering problem, that's just a meme from people with poor rigs: and specs mean nothing if your temps are throttling you.

What engine would you prefer they use instead? Unity? Godot? Game Maker? An in-house engine you say? Oh, good point, game engines are so notoriously easy to make. :P

I have a 4090 and a very strong cooling setup, I don't expect everyone to have the same buttery-smooth performance as me. But I'm seeing a lot of UE5 hate, which I think is just people lying about how good their PCs are.

I've been watching streamers play with 180 FPS and I just can't see a single stutter.

UE5 is an amazing engine, I think it's probably some rig envy. There's no stuttering problem, there's just poor rigs.

Relax. Why are you taking what I said so personal? and why would I lie? The game stutters, and so does Unreal Engine. Some people are just more sensitive to it than others. You probably don’t notice them.
Literally watching people play it on lesser rigs than me on Twitch, ignore the evidence of your eyes if you want, but your time is better spent upgrading your cooling.

You've got a throttling problem.

No it's not part of unreal, it just shows that optimization is not something people learn how to do anymore, it's not complicated but they prefer to not spend time doing it because they can click on one thing and it kinda run... Lots of these people actually do not know how to optimize the work they do because they never learned how to... That's kinda sad but that's the reality we live in.

Epic has officially confirmed that there are stuttering issues and CDPR did an entire presentation on their solutions for fixing traversal stutter in UE5 lol

Let me turn off the fog.

Kill fog. Behead fog. Roundhouse kick fog into the concrete. Slam dunk a fog baby into the trashcan. Crucify filthy fog. Defecate in a fog's low hanging particulates. Launch fog into the sun.
Aside from the hardware raytracing, the game is insanely polished. What are you on about?
There's no such thing as optimizing UE5 because the engine itself is a mess, i don't care many versions release, that fact is not going to change.

I know people have issues with stutter. It's evident in all the posts in new unreal games but I've never experienced it once. I'd like to know what the common denominator is with those that suffer. This isn't a snide comment it's an Honest Question?

Runs great for me. Even at max settings with RT on....

Either you need a better computer or need to set more reasonable expectations of your settings.

What engine do you recommend devs use instead?
