If they change too much of the core gameplay, classic fans won't want to play it and it'd be a gamble as to whether the modern audience would give it a fair shake after knowing just how different Morrowind is compared to what they know.
If they don't tweak the core gameplay to appeal to modern TES fans, they're taking a gamble because of the fact that the number of classic fans is very small compared to the modern TES fandom.
Morrowind was my first TES game (and first Bethesda game in general), it still holds a very special place in my heart, but the Oblivion remaster was the only one that made any sense. Plus, as someone who considers Oblivion to be the greatest game ever made, I'm very happy they gave it the royal treatment.
That said, I wouldn't have been against Bethesda maybe doing an official source port or at least partnering with the OpenMW team to make it an "official" way to play Morrowind in a re-release, maybe with a texture upscale and some very minor graphical tweaks. Problem is, selling something like that would be a major gamble on profitability which is why, as I said, I'm fairly certain an official remaster or remake of Morrowind will never happen.
Was so excited when the addons came with werewolves and stuff, even the mods were already very good (could remember a mod where you could turn NPCs into vampires and I ended up with a whole city being my children, lol)
Morrowind RTX please.
