Also would like a source. Mods were part of success in community for Morrowing, Oblivion and Skyrim. So why should they completely give up something the community loved?
H is specifically targeting multiplayer mods like seamless co-op mods in Elden Ring and Armored Core 6.
Sometimes I wonder if Todd is salty cuz everyone kept saying that Bethesda games are only good cuz of the mods so he went nuclear on modder rights to save face lol
There has been over 72,5k mods for Skyrim LE and over 108,5K mods for Skyrim SE on Nexus. How many of them were "co-op" mods or for "multiplayer"?
I guess the community were rather upset, if ENB or "adult" mods were suddenly banned.
As someone else here so kindly posted

I think the attitude of "Doesn't matter mods exist and we can anyway" defeats the point of the conversation that if I buy a game, I should own the game. I should be able to do what I want with the game I should be owning because I bought it. The "I want this shiny thing so take my money" kidna ruins the gaming industry. Money talks and all we've collectively been saying is "It's fine, AAA faceless companies, we'll pay for your low-effort rehash and then wait for modders (who don't get paid) to fix what you never will" and idk I think that's a little gross.
It's important to know what you are buying.
It's important to know what you are agreeing to
Literacy and comprehension (as well as overall care) is at an all time low.
No, no one is telling anyone what to do - except the company you are giving money to while allowing them to scrape information for things that REALLY do not matter in a single player game, while also making it just playable enough for modders to come in and do the hard work.
If the game worked, if they polished what NEEDED polishing, if they did anything more than spray paint the damn thing, maybe mods wouldn't even be desired. I have the physical copy of the OG, and that works better, and for free, and without Bethesda being able to manipulate it.
I would not be surprised if this is in the EULA cause they want to shovel their own "confirmed" mods for...of course... consumers to purchase. And if that be the case, I'll be thankful I didn't contribute to their dirty pockets. But it won't mean all that much because most people don't care and that's a shame.
Who will find out? Nobody.
You hear me Todd, I'm putting giant boobs in this game and you're not going to stop me.
