I'm with you, something is off - I used to be a pro at the lockpipcking, now i'm breaking 20 picks on a single easy lock, reloading, and breaking another 20.
Typical Bethesda, never learning.
Just in the tutorial dungeon it's an "average" 3 tumbler lock-- even the slower dropping tumbler will suspiciously break the pick when done seemingly perfectly.
Left the tutorial dungeon with only 2 lockpicks due to not thinking to quick save before every chest. Kind of irritated.
Still got it open, but wasted a LOT of lockpicks.
Ah, that lock picking mini game was never the best one. Hence why they took over the one from Fallout in Skyrim. ^^
