In Defense of "Body Type 1 and 2" in Character Creation

The use of "Body Type 1 and 2" instead of "Male and Female" in character creation is a thoughtful and inclusive design choice. It allows players to choose how their character looks without being restricted by binary gender labels. This is especially important in a fantasy game, where personal expression and immersion are key elements of the experience.

Not everyone identifies within the traditional gender binary, and many players appreciate the freedom to mix and match body types, voices, and features to reflect their identity—or simply to create a unique character. By decoupling physical appearance from gender labels, the game becomes more accessible and welcoming to a wider audience.

Importantly, this change doesn’t remove anything—it simply reframes the options in a way that gives players more flexibility. It respects both those who want traditional roles and those who seek something different.

In the end, games should empower players to be who they want to be. "Body Type 1 and 2" helps do just that.

The body type 1 and 2 was introduced to cause trouble and focus harassment against the LGBT community and most LGBT groups are against it and many offended by people pretending to be on our side and doing stuff like this just to stir up trouble.

I am intersex and don't fit the male/female narrative but I and many others just want stuff like this to stop, if you had any friends in the LGBT community that aren't just jumping on the bandwagon 'cause its cool' you might realise that we prefer games to be games and not about this garbage, what YOU are doing is the LGBT equivalent of blackface and I and many other genuinely want people like you to stop defending this harassment, no-one will like you for this and this makes you a bad person and people will hate you because this is PERSONAL!!!.

Male and female aren't expressions they're observable characteristics. If you want to pretend they aren't then you can also pretend the Male/Female option says Type 1/Type 2.

You are not choosing your characters gender with male and female in games, you are choosing your characters sex and that's why people hate this. You are removing options not adding more if anything.

There are only a couple of games at best that go into gender, mixing voices, and other features in a way like you described and this is not one of them. Nothing was changed outside of the character sex being renamed to body type 1 & 2. If we have way more options to change things up like in a few other games less people would care, but this is just another game studio adding in their ideology that is harmful to the very people they want to support.

All of the trans / LGBTQ people I have met over the years while gaming (Mostly in WoW & OW.) that I have asked about this stuff don't even like it. If you were trans and believe you are the opposite gender, willing to go through some brutal surgery and other changes why would you not want to play as a male or female character that matches the way you wish you were born? All this stuff does is create more drama and hate towards the community because of a small number of very loud people that talk on their behalf push for it when the majority just want to be left alone and have nothing to do with it.

It's been sad to see the hate people have had targeted towards them because of activists pushing weird changes like this and far worse in other situations over the years.

BodyType doesn't specify Gender or Sex:
Bethesda is allowing you to "express how you want society to see you".
In GameMechanics:
- are you CIS? Who Knows?
- are you Trans:? Who Cares?

Bethesda pulled a matrix-bullet-dodge move on you.
Society will treat you as a man (pronouns/dress/makeup). Because you either expressed yourself that way .. or born like it.
