Oblivion lockpicking was always massively harder than skyrim (of course excluding the skeleton key, exploits, spells etc.)
Its as simple as the minigame having completely different constraints i.e in skyrim even with master locks you get a 'practice' with very gentle touches of the tumblers letting you feel out the lock, oblivion its solely randomised split second timing; was always very hard but i kinda liked it.
Since I played Oblivion like 2 weeks ago and literally had no problem opening any chests within 8 tries.
Mind you, I have been playing Oblivion on and off since like 2010 or something, not via steam but Disc.
Now the first "average" chest in the remaster... I just couldn't open that ♥♥♥♥ with 18 (or more last number I remember is 18) lockpicks.
The timing just feels off, when i press space bar to lock in the lockpick breaks even when it is sitting perfectly at the top.
I don't really know what it is, but it just feels wrong, as if the animation and actual timing just don't match up
