It’s the same system but it’s absolutely buggy, anyone claiming to not have broken a pick is lying. The timing is actually off. Sometimes you can go for a minute or more without the slow tumbler activating. At times it will be perfectly in place and the game decides that you didn’t hit it at the right moment.

Stop defending a terrible system simply because you believe it makes you better than someone else that you “understand it”. The system was always a horribly tedious system that wastes time. You never actually liked it then, you don’t like it now, you just like pretending you are better than other people.

Objectively the system in the remake IS buggy. The timing needs to be fixed. Pretending it’s not for fake internet clout is just sad.

I'll defend the system. It's a really cool variation on lockpicking that does get easy once your used to it. You have to wait and time the slow pin animation. It has worked just fine for me all day doing a thief setup opening very hard locks. I strongly prefer it to the guesswork of the skyrim/fallout variation.

That said, it's a Bethesda game. It really wouldn't shock me if it's being buggy for some people lol.

its super easy once you know, just use space bar and W, each pin has a fast slow pattern, use space-bar to lock in the pin on the slow pin. also save just before and reload if you use all your lock-picks

Im still using my first lockpick - i have yet to break one - not sure whats wrong with all of you guys haha..
The lockpicking has changed a lot, to the worst, imo. I do not remember having it THIS HARD to have the pin locked in place, while it is clearly flushed on line with the top. I've played oblivion on the 360 and on PC after, for the mods, and that for multiple years without editing lockpicking mechanics.

Something is definitely off.

ALL OF YOU CAN JUST GET THE SKELLETON KEY... what is even the Problem

Erm, thought about people want to replay the game (or the first time) like they did it years ago (or intend to experience the game as it was intended to) without cheating in the unbreakable key? Why not suggesting getting every item in the game, the mask on top for your crimes...

skyrim babies lmao

God it is so irritating, the timing is most definitely off
Maybe it's just me, but it really feels like the lock-picking is much easier than it was in the original release.

Or maybe that's just 19 years of experience?

Just wait for certain animation (the one that slower than others). That's pretty easy.

Maybe it is tied to FPS somehow and if you have a really fast PC then high FPS makes the timing off? I tried the OG game and it definitely is way out compared to that, on a whole different league as far as difficulty goes

I've been playing the old Oblivion for two weeks before the release and was slowly progressing through the Thieves Guild. The Remastered version is messed up. The old version had a tell: if you repeatedly lift the tumbler up, you notice that it does so at varying speeds. The trick was to wait for a very rapid lift, and that guarantees that the next left will be very slow. That's not how it works in the remastered. In vanilla I'd break lockpicks on Hard and Very Hard locks, here I ran out of 30 lockpicks picking an average lock...

well pratice i will get good at it, but im prtty good at these in skyrim didnt expect oblivion to be hard in a way that i cannot find or hear a pattern to know when to lock the pins

Nothing wrong with the system. This thing is easier than Skyrim's. Or was that Kingdom Come 2?

PS im trying to avoid cheating with skeleton key because skyrim unlocking was challenging but esy after a while even though i managed to receive the specil key with thief quest so i will pratice until i join that guild.
