Game insta crashing on startup

Not sure why or if anyone else is having this problem but I launch the game and I see a black screen then it completely closes a second or two later. Not sure what the problem is but I have solid specs, 3070 64gb ram and i9 10900 cpu would like to at least give the game a chance before its refunded

Crashed for me as well at startup. I updated my Nvidia drivers and that sorted it on my side. Fingers crossed it stays sorted.

I have some weird shimmering and some pop ins from far distances. It's annoying to look at but not as bad as stalker 2.

What driver version do you use on your GPU? Lot of weird issues with crashing on drivers 572.XX and newer.

The game pops up a message saying my processor is a 4 core and that the game is demanding a 6 core processor. then the game runs the title screen which insta freezes. Why is this remaster of a almost 20 year old game so demanding?

Okay, you might want to try a driver like 566.36 and see if that works. If you want to try this, I recommend using DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode to scrub everything related to Nvidia, then, with your internet disabled, install 566.36. You can do that via several methods, cable pull, disable the NIC, if wifi, enable airplane mode, exc.

I checked what the error was in windows event viewer and it seems to be related to dlss. Here is the path to the file responsible for my crashes:
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\OblivionRemastered\Engine\Plugins\Marketplace\nvidia\DLSS\Streamline\Binaries\ThirdParty\Win64\sl.pcl.dll

I have seen others claim that deleting this file has helped while others have said it was temporary. You are welcome to try that but I am still thinking the issue is driver related.

I remember that for another game that recently released called The First Berserker: Khazan I had the same problem and it led to the same file. Deleting that file did fix that game for me, I will try it with oblivion and let you guys know what happens.

Okay, if you ever need that file back, do a check for file integrity on Steam and it will redownload that file for you.
