⚠️ WARNING! CLOUD SAVES DO NOT WORK!
Cloud saves don’t sync between my PC and Steam Deck, which defeats the entire point of cross-platform play — the main reason I bought this game. If a game can’t support such a basic feature, it shouldn’t be Steam Deck Verified.

I’ve tested this across two Windows PCs (both handhelds, though that’s not really relevant), and the problem is consistent.

Several replies pointed out what seems to be the issue: OneDrive file redirection.

On Windows, the game saves to:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames

But Steam Cloud looks for:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames

Since these are different directories, Steam Cloud doesn’t see the correct files.

If I manually move the save files from the local Documents folder into the OneDrive path, they immediately upload to Steam Cloud and show up on SteamOS. But then I have to reverse the process every time I switch back to PC — manually copying the updated saves from OneDrive back into the regular Documents folder.

You basically have to do this every single time you switch devices.

Bethesda support?
“We can’t replicate the issue.”

Cool. Thanks for nothing.

If anyone else is running into this or has a workaround, please share. I'd love to update this thread when the fix is discovered, as I'm not holding my breath on Bethesda patching this.

Typical Windows bloatware and Windows user issue...

The game seem to be configured "properly" on Steam[steamdb.info] but is probably using hardcoded path on the code.

This would not be an issue if Microsoft did not change your home folder without your consent.

I would recommend to not use Windows make a Symlink[learn.microsoft.com] from the folder that the game expect to the OneDriver folder.

They do but its weird right now. The cloud saving is using OneDrive. You'll need to MANUALLY copy and paste from the OneDrive folder into the games save folder.

OneDrive location;

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames

Save folder location;

C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames

I’m downloading the game now on a Windows handheld to test that.

As for PC performance, I'm running a 7900X3D/7900XTX combo with FSR enabled, and the frame rate became unplayable immediately after leaving the sewer. I’d love to try it on another PC or my Steam Deck — but hey, for that to happen, cloud saves actually need to work.

i just switched back and forth from my pc to my steam deck 3 or 4 times while i was testing it and my save always transfered every time. Is there something that cause the save file not to transfer or is it random?

Lol not
Same problem here. It says “Cloud Save up to Date” but saved game doesn’t appear when I launch on steam deck

Same issue here. When looking at the properties (gear icon on the game page from your library -> properties -> general tab, under Steam Cloud) in steam, it shows 0 bytes used, despite the steam cloud icon showing up to date. I've got OneDrive disabled on both my ROG Ally and My PC.

OneDrive is also disabled on my PC. I wonder if this is the issue?
