Cross saves between Steam and XboX
Does anyone know if Oblivion have a cross save between Steam and XboX like Avowed has?
I am thinking about getting game pass to try it but was curious if I will be able to use the saves if I ever decide to get it permanently.

Trying to find this out too. I want to be able to play it on Steam Deck & Gamepass but dont want to buy a new copy if the saves dont carry over.

I'm trying to test but downloads are so unbearably slow from xbox.

I played a couple hours on gamepass before buying it on steam, and I'm so far unable to link the two. Gamepass of course makes it very difficult to find your save files. At this point, I've just had to restart a new game.

I know that save files (the actual save files on your PC) didn't work between Steam and XboX when moved. You had to log in to your account and use it via xbox service.

It was funny when I installed it on my laptop to see if it can run it and all my saves were gone! It took me a while to realise that if you use xbox saves, then Steam doesn't save its own files.

Well... If cross save isn't supported than I won't bother with it. No point wasting my time with the game.
I still have couple of other games I wanted to try, so I'll use my time for that.

Yeah hmm, guess I will just play via Game Pass then
its a bit complex lol but you have to hex edit it, make a save on the steam copy, then open both with something like HxD20 hex editor rightclick the gamepass version select all, copy and then go to steam version hit select all and then paste. This will just overright the save and u should have your save on both gamepass and steam. :)
C:\Users\youruser\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\SaveGames is where steam is located and C:\Users\youruser\AppData\Local\Packages\BethesdaSoftworks.ProjectAltar_3275kfvn8vcwc is where the gamepass save is but due to the different save codings youll have to follow the instructions above

How about achievements? Will that also carry over?

Yup, works. Even with cloud gaming. Achievos and saves are shared for the Xbox/PC Gamepass version. Edit: oh wait you mentioned Steam lol. Doubt it works with the Steam version tho. Think saves will carry over, don't think achievos will pop on the load from Xbox to Steam and vice versa.

not sure bout that one, pretty sure most of the achievements are as you do them type goals. Depends on the game though, I've transferred other games saves and they popped up once it was loaded. At least you'll have your save? :P

Yes, editing save files works, same with Avowed but there is no simple "log in and use files". Shame really.

Looks like Obsidian done better job than Bethesda... again...
Not a surprise really. :D
