DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Fedora 42
I'm getting an error when I run the game on my Fedora 42 system:

> DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument.

The game is steam deck validated so there IS a way to make this work.

I've tried using the -dx11 and -vulkan flags but no dice.

Update:

I've tried Hotfix, Experimental, and GE 9-26 with no dice either.

I have it running on Nobara with both ge proton and 9 but I'm getting bad performance even though I'm over recommended requirements. There will probably be some reports to help on protondb in a few hours or maybe a day or so.

Did you need any special launch options or did it just boot right up? (I've been considering Bazzite or Nobara)

Also, yeah I kind of expect ProtonDB to be updated with it soon, game wasn't even listed (at least 10 minutes ago when I looked)

Both proton versions just worked no options. I've had really good luck with Nobara. The odd thing is that dropping the visual settings doesn't seem to help. It hitches real bad when going into a new cell area so I'm skeptical if I'm going to be able to get it fixed. Best of luck though, if you go to nobara or get it to load on fedora let me know how the perfomance is for you.

Playing on Bazzite. Which is based on Fedora 42. Works for me with latest Proton GE.
Hardware RT on 7800 XT is god awful. Software lumin RT works great though.

I was wondering about Linux capability. I'm using a modded version of Kubuntu 24.10 and was considering buying this but wanted to see if anyone got it running yet.

What GPU are you using?

I'm on a 4070, 16gb ram, and 3600x. Maybe it's the ram holding me back just noticed they recommend 32...

Nvidia GPU by chance?

It's definitely not running as well as I'd hoped though I haven't seen any Windows benchmarks yet.

7900XTX
9950X
3840x2160
medium-high
ratracing software
global illumination off
no upscaling
hovers around 60-70fps in the first area

Setting everything to low has a very minor impact, the only thing that improves performance is upscaling. Eww.

-dx11 and -vulkan flags don't work as it's not compiled to support them. Possibly someone can hack in support later.

Looks like the proton DB page is up for the game now.

Have you updated your gpu drivers to the recently released version? That seems to have fixed it for me.
Not working for me either, same DIrectX 12 error. Mostly-fresh install of OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, NVIDIA RTX 3060, driver version 570.144. Will stay tuned on here, Reddit, and ProtonDB in case someone figures it out.
Okay, just kidding, I reinstalled the game and it launched!
i had to set “SteamDeck=0 %command%” to be able to turn on software lumen

The performance issues aren't Linux related. The game has significant performance issues in windows as welll
