The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

View Stats:
The main goal is to drive people to xbox.
We’ve waited years for this moment — but what we got is far from what the legacy of Oblivion deserves.

1. Where Is the Turkish Localization?
It’s 2025. Turkish gamers represent a massive, passionate player base.
You gave us Turkish support in Doom: The Dark Ages (thank you for that), so where is it in Oblivion Remastered?

👉 We want Turkish subtitles support in Oblivion Remastered!
There is no excuse for not including Turkish subtitles in a global release of such a beloved classic.
Please don’t ignore us.

2. No Mod Support? You’ve Cut Out the Game’s Soul.
According to Bethesda’s official support page, there is no mod support at all for Oblivion Remastered.
🔗 Official Bethesda Statement[help.bethesda.net]

Mods are the reason why Oblivion and Skyrim lived for two decades. Mods kept it alive, evolving, and beloved.
Now? You’ve locked it down. And for what? Monetization?

This isn’t a remaster — this is nostalgia repackaged for profit, without the heart.
Mods empower communities, not corporations. Maybe that’s the real reason they’re being pushed aside.

3. The Quality Feels Rushed and Soulless
Sure, the visuals are technically improved.
But the fonts, UI, character faces, animations — they feel lifeless, bland, and poorly executed.
Like a quick cash-in rather than a love letter to a masterpiece.

We’ve seen this pattern before in Xbox-backed projects: a noticeable drop in care and polish.
Sadly, Oblivion Remastered is no exception.

4. “Body Type 1 & 2” Instead of Male/Female? Cringe.
Replacing “male” and “female” with “body type 1” and “body type 2” is not inclusive — it’s confusing and robotic.
This feels more like checkbox design than meaningful representation.

Respect for identity is important, but removing clarity and player choice is not the way.
Don’t alienate your core audience for the sake of shallow signals.

Don’t Let This Be the Legacy of Oblivion
Oblivion means more than nostalgia. It is a generational milestone in gaming.

And right now, you’re letting that legacy rot in a half-finished, profit-driven shell.

  • We want Turkish subtitles.
  • We want modding support.
  • We want respect for the original game and its community.

Fix it. For the fans. For the legacy.

Let’s be real — this game isn’t just disappointing in content, it’s also technically a mess.

I’m running a GTX 1080. Sure, it’s not the newest card, but it can still handle most modern games — even some built on Unreal Engine 5. But Oblivion Remastered? I doubt it’ll even run properly on my system.

So instead of paying for this broken shell, I’m going to play Skyblivion — a free fan-made project, with passion, soul, and modding support. Imagine that: the community doing what Bethesda couldn’t (or wouldn’t).

Seeing reviews like this one just killed the last bit of my excitement:

Wonder why they released this with no notice? And no review period? Because it is broken.

Open game. Takes over five minutes to preload shaders… on my RTX 4090. Normally that takes under a minute. Not great, but okay.

Then I go into settings. Turn on DLAA, ray tracing — just exploring the menu.

HARD SYSTEM CRASH — entire PC restarts. Weird.

Try again. This time I reach character creation. Spend 15-20 minutes creating my hero, enter the cell. FPS is awful. Tweak settings: DLSS balanced, ray tracing low, frame gen on. Still laggy, input delay everywhere.

Then it happens again.

HARD SYSTEM CRASH — PC restarts, nothing even happening in-game.

I try once more. Black screen on launch. Steam won’t even close it properly. Try again. Black screen. Crash.

Refunding. This is not ready.

We’ve waited years. We wanted to relive Oblivion — not debug it.

At this point, it’s clear: Skyblivion will be my Oblivion Remastered. And it won’t cost me a cent.

⚙️ Technical Demands and Accessibility
Oblivion Remastered utilizes Unreal Engine 5, delivering high-fidelity visuals with dynamic lighting and real-time reflections. However, these advancements come at a cost: the game demands substantial system resources, including RTX graphics cards, making it less accessible to players with mid-range hardware . In contrast, Skyblivion is built on Skyrim's Creation Engine, offering a more optimized experience that remains visually impressive without excluding a significant portion of the player base.

🛠️ Modding Support and Community Engagement
A notable concern with Oblivion Remastered is its lack of official mod support. Unlike previous titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4, which featured robust modding tools, the remastered version does not currently offer similar capabilities. While the community has begun creating unofficial mods, compatibility issues persist due to the new engine . Skyblivion, on the other hand, embraces the modding community, ensuring full compatibility with Skyrim's extensive modding ecosystem. This openness fosters creativity and allows players to tailor their experiences extensively.

🎮 Gameplay Experience and Design Philosophy
Critics of Oblivion Remastered have pointed out that, despite visual upgrades, the game feels like a superficial enhancement lacking meaningful depth. Some design choices have been labeled as questionable, leading to a perception that the remaster was produced more for commercial reasons than as a labor of love. Conversely, Skyblivion is a fan-driven project developed over a decade by passionate volunteers. Their dedication is evident in the meticulous recreation of Cyrodiil, integration of classic mechanics like spell crafting and class systems, and the addition of new quests and voice acting to enrich the world .

💸 Cost and Value Proposition
Oblivion Remastered is priced at $49.99, which has raised questions about its value, especially given its limitations and the availability of the original game at a lower cost. In contrast, Skyblivion will be completely free upon release, requiring only that players own legal copies of Skyrim: Special Edition and Oblivion with their respective DLCs . This approach underscores the project's commitment to accessibility and community goodwill.

🏆 Conclusion
While The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered offers a modernized version of a classic title, its high system requirements, limited modding support, and perceived lack of depth have tempered enthusiasm. Skyblivion emerges as a compelling alternative, driven by community passion, offering extensive modding capabilities, and providing a rich, immersive experience—all at no additional cost. For players seeking a revitalized journey through Cyrodiil that honors the spirit of the original while embracing modern enhancements, Skyblivion stands as the superior choice.
You have all the rights to get your subtitles in your language and i hope they will put them.

Yet i have to point out that "massive player base" is wrong, you are a small group compared to other languages. Does not mean you don't deserve and have the rights to get your language, which i agree it should have been done by default.

Mod support is not forbidden. It's not SUPPORTED, it's a totally different word.
Players and modders can and have already created hundred mods.
And not supported does not mean THE GAME can't be modded. It mean that Bethesda/Virtuos does not officialy give the tools to mod it.

Body 1/2 vs M/F why do you care. Create your character, play your game, enjoy it. once your character is created and you click on "play" you dont ever see again the issue.

imagine putting the time and effort into this ♥♥♥♥ instead of playing videogames
The main goal is to drive people to xbox.
Consoles - unupgradeable boxes. If HDD fails you are buying new Box. Cool gaming dude

2. No Mod Support? You’ve Cut Out the Game’s Soul.
Since when you NEED mods to play game? Game should be fun as is

Never used mods for Tetris or https://store.steampowered.com/app/632360/Risk_of_Rain_2/

3. The Quality Feels Rushed and Soulless
Hint: Buiying AAA day 1 is 95% guaranty of bugs

4. “Body Type 1 & 2” Instead of Male/Female? Cringe.
Iif PC has “Body Type 1 & 2” whats stops consoles from using “Body Type 1 & 2” ?

imagine being this butt hurt about an actually good game.
Also Ask sony what happens when you force PC users to consoles

Steam is refunding players with hundreds of in-game hours in Helldivers 2 after publisher Sony and developer Arrowhead told PC players that in order to keep playing after next month, they would have to link to a PSN account.

I agree with 2 and 4, no official mod support is weird but the game might still be moddable idk.

Though nobody cares about turkish localization, I'm french but I couldn't care less if the game has or no french localization.

Like you said it's 2025, if you're not able to speak english it's your fault, but you seem to be perfectly able to speak english so it's not an issue.

Have to agree, not even Germans got language support and they are far at the top for active players and spending money for games (#5 world, #1 Europe).

the xbox series S and X are 4 years newer than your 1080.

you can't just not upgrade and expect games to work, either play pc or play console but either way you would of had to upgrade by now lol.

not the newest? you talk like its a 3080 (5~ years old) dude it's 9 years old. :steamfacepalm:

Let’s clear a few things up — once and for all.

First, yes, Turkish is not the biggest language in gaming. But it doesn’t have to be. Inclusion isn’t about being “big enough,” it’s about being seen and respected. If Doom: The Dark Ages can launch with Turkish localization, so can Oblivion Remastered. This is 2025. There’s no valid excuse left — only choices. And they chose to leave us out.

As for mod support — don’t sugarcoat it. “Not supported” means “not worth our time.” That’s what it says to the community. Modding is the soul of Elder Scrolls. Without it, you’re left with a shell — and a buggy one at that. We’re not asking for handouts. We’re asking for the same treatment Skyrim and Fallout got years ago.

Now, about “Body Type 1 & 2.” Inclusivity isn’t about stripping away clarity. It’s about giving people meaningful options and respecting identity — not replacing it with sterile labels. This feels like lazy checkbox design, not genuine representation.

And to those saying “just learn English” — you’ve missed the point entirely. Localization is not about ability; it’s about accessibility. It’s about comfort, immersion, and respect. Nobody told you to stop watching dubbed Netflix shows just because “you speak English,” right?

As for the technical mess: you can say “your PC is old” all you want, but when fan-made projects like Skyblivion run smoother and look just as good — on the same hardware — it shows the problem isn’t us. It’s the product.

Criticism doesn’t mean hate. It means we care. If you’re fine settling for less, that’s your choice. But don’t shame those who demand better. We’re not here to whine — we’re here to hold studios accountable. Because Oblivion deserved more than a rushed remaster locked behind paywalls and silence.

We wanted to celebrate this release. Instead, we’re stuck explaining why we’re disappointed — again.

So maybe ask devs on dev/game site/forums to add language support? I dont know if they read here
Microsoft is doing everything it reasonably can to push Xbox players to Gamepass and to make Gamepass more appealing to PC players. They know they've lost the console war and are now pushing hard for a PC player base. They're not trying to push PC players to Xbox and they know PlayStation players aren't buying an Xbox anytime soon.
