Mod support for this game?
One of the best parts of Skyrim and original Oblivion was the ability for users to make modded content. Some exceptional mods came out over the years.

I'm curious how Oblivion remake will handle mods. Is Bethesda going full force with trying to make all mods monetized and only available through their atrocious creator's club?

Sadly, no. https://help.bethesda.net/#en/answer/69672 I did refund because of it. But I would rather if they informed us before so i did not waste time downloading 120gb of data... oh well.

if it runs on the same logic as the old oblivion and the engine is an easily moddable one like UE 5 doesn't that mean mods will still come out relatively quickly?

Let me clarify:

Does it SUPPORT mods? No.

CAN YOU mod it? Yes.

Hopefully Nexus Mods allows the mod files to live on their site.

it's unreal engine which modders are super good at modding, so 100% yes, there will be tons of mods.

"support" in that faq answer means they won't support third party work in terms of there customer support for the game.

Which is the same for og oblivion, skyrim, morrowind, etc. They don't "support" mods for those games either, (yet there are thousands).

It just won't be quite as easy to do gameplay mods. But model/texture/etc modding will happen really easily.

It still does have .esp and .bsa files under it. But with no creation kit, it would be hard to mod it. Maybe some items, etc., but no new NPCs or quests.

this is for "Official Mods" IE the paid for ones you seen in Skyrim and FO4
Unofficial modding is completely fine

UE 5 is not great for modding. Yes you can easily switch out assets (meshes and textures) and call that modding, but not in the same amount as it was possible with the bethesda modding tools (creating new levels, new story elements, changing leveled lists, items, etc.)
Just take a look at any UE 5 mods (for example on nexus) and have a look.

No mod support extremely likely means no creation kit, which is the main reason why all other Bethesda games are so moddable.

We’ll have to wait a few months to see, but yes, it’s possible that modders will manage to mod it..even games that don’t officially support it have been modded before.
Nexus already has a site up for it, so mods ARE coming

https://www.nexusmods.com/games/oblivionremastered
How does this even compete with modded original, are the old mods portable (eventually)?

Having played Morrowind with mods and old Oblivion, I'm pretty sure modders will find a way to mod this. There are many mods out there for games that officially do not support it.
