Shaders preloading foreveer
I hope Epic Games fixes shaders in UE6. Taking 8 minutes to load a game is silly.

Edit: I havn't had any more shader loads problems. I guess it was a one time thing. I skip it all together now.

Which CPU and drive do you use?

I am willing to bet a 12 and 13th gen intel cpu is in use
Just as I feared, about nearly every UE5 related game (eg stalker 2) seemingly has issues with shader compilation.

Better this than stuttering I suppose

What about them? I updated my bios too to patch that bug.

It's either that or you deal with stutters in-game. I'd much rather wait for them to compile at launch.
try clearing the nvidia or amd shader cache folder

i had games taking ages to compile aswell and found that it was because the shader folder was too big and causing complications with altering older shaders.
or try increasing the folder size. either or.

as soon as i deleted the folder, the shader compile in the affected games finished in a minute.

Ok, but your drive matters too. Difference between hdd, ssd and m2 are big.

I have a 7800x3D and a 4070 and it’s taken me over 10 minutes to get 35%.

AMD 5950x / RTX4090 here. CPU usage during shader compilation is ~10-15%, most cores are just idling. Parallelizing would certainly help.

same here. my CPU went from 99% usage to like 4-5 once it hit the 19% mark of compiling. It's mega slow after that.

I have a 9800X3D, other games don't just stop using CPU mid compiling ...

also, since I finished by now, apparently at 50% or so the game is just done compiling.

lol 8 minutes is fast apparently - I’m on a 5900x and it’s been ten minutes. I’m still at 27%. I expect launch bugs and definitely expect them from Bethesda. But ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this ridiculous.

There's definitely something odd going on. I've never seen my 5800x3D hover at only 10-15% utilization during shader compilation. It's always full speed ahead.
Preloading shaders took 20 min + for me. I am on a i9 13900K and a 4090. Game runs smooth after that, though...
