So what is the performance like, I guess unplayable without DLSS again..?

avowed dlss was horrid when i played it, graphics and textures washed out, and some became pixelated. bad enough benchmarks for avowed all gpus got 30-60fps no matter the graphic setting. we will see how this is

Who knows? Bethesda Game Studios seem to "optimize" for 30fps usually... as if that's acceptable these days. But Beth wasn't in the driving seat this time...

on steam deck its a slide-show, barely 30 fps, jumping all over the place. on my main rig its great and looks actually better than i tjougt

DLSS4 is quite good and barely looks different from the DLAA variant with a LOT less stress on your GPU. I don't see the issue with it myself, but yeah, upscaling is kind of the wave of the future, don't see that changing anytime soon.

6900 XT, 1440p

all maxed out, except Lumen RT (my card isnt good with HWRT, so I chose software), Global illumination and shadows slightly lowered, mostly stable 60 fps.

Idk about the lower end though.

Unfortunately the truth because we have peaked on transistor count, so we have reached the physical limits of current processing technology.
