The difficulty leveling problem is still there
It was a big issue on the OG and it's still the same. I'm playing Normal diff, I think I have leveled my magic user well, currently level 15, 100 INT, 85 WIL, 75 STR. I have pretty decent spells, Fireballs, Lightning blasts, etc. Destruction level 100. Also handy with a Blade, level 41. Other schools in the 40's, 50's.
However I'm finding the enemies to be quite OP. Bandits especially in mithril. The wild monsters are currently bears, lions, Minotaurs. Spells barely scratch the bandits (the monsters are a bit easier) let alone swords. I had to run away from a mine and kite the bandits to some guards and civilians nearby to help me.
Speaking of difficulty, as a Breton with 100 INT my magicka is barely 300 even with a couple of increase magicka items. Casting the stronger spells drains it in two or three uses and I can't even dream of more powerful spells that cost 400, 500, even thousands of magicka. I thought when I reached Destruction 100 the cost would become more manageable but nope.
My main issue, I can't see much improvement in the future as I'm already there but the enemies will keep on getting better.

has something drained your intelligence stat? have you increased endurance at all? have you even made custom spells to realy start destroying things?

Gain access to the arcane university and consider the following

Enchant clothing ring and amulet with shield
Craft a low cost but effective spell (touch is more magicka efficient)
frost 25 x 4 while you swing away

Alchemy is handy for magicka potions

Make sure your spell effectiveness is 100%
Are you running any mods? If your Destruction is 100, the most expensive destruction spell should be in the low 80s.
That being said, Magic is only good at rather low levels do to the fact it doesn't scale.
Cast the two highest shield spells to get your damage resist to 70 and go beat stuff up with swords, which will level your armor skill, which will make you more tanky so you don't have to cast the damage resist spells anymore.
The difficulty really ramps up at Adept. Enemies hit 3.5 times harder and you hit only 0.3 times it's not fun for the first 10 to 15 levels. And not fun at all on a mage, until you get really high stats. But leveling magic stats is super easy. Just casting spells.
I still find a lot of spells with vendors that say "your magicka is too low". The powerful ones I'm using cost about 75 which means I run out of magicka with 3 or 4 shots. But those bandits soak up that number of shots at least each of them, before they are killed and then I have to bring out the sword which barely scratches them. They were so easy a few levels ago but suddenly the game became a grind. And the only thing left to improve is Endurance (I have about 50 right now). The future looks bleak. I'm thinking of trying another character but what would I do differently?
In the old game many people recommended never leveling up, stay at level 1 but you also miss a lot of things that way. Some quests never trigger for example.
You do know, that each spell school has independent skills that have no affect on each other ones right? If the spell is mysticism, and your skill is 40, then the spell will cost hundreds of mana regardless of your destruction skill.

In the original you needed to manage your skills and level to maximize stat gains, this one just gives you 12 per level, so you don't need to manage your skill gains/level any more.

how do i get it to 100? just use the spells? just wondering
And this is exactly what happens when you level up your character without being prepared.
If you're going the magic route then you should be buying or crafting the highest damage spells that you can. There's tons of ways to make sure that you never run out of magika. Crafting potions and using enchanted equipment to restore and fortify your points.
Don't level up skills that you are not going to actively use. Since every skill upgrade contributes to your level and the enemy scales to your level. If you're focused on destruction magic and not using spells from the other schools of magic then having 100 in illusion or whatever is not going to do anything but hurt you.

This is a huge problem with all these stupid YouTube jackass's showing off how you can get all your skills leveled up really quickly. If you're not prepared and equipped to fight the higher level enemies than of course you're going to get wrecked.

Don't wear any armor.
Not worth it though, as 95% is good enough.

and why are you not enchanting magic fortifying armor/cloths if you want a lot of magic just give your self more by enchanting armor or cloths with fortify magic on self as a consent effect

to make enchanting easy get umbra and azura's star so you can harvest any soul to use for enchanting
TBH I haven't enchanted anything. I'll give that a try.
For one you can create custom spells.
100 points fire damage, 100 points frost damage, 100 points shock damage, 100 points drain health all on touch for 1 second should kill nearly everything in the game.

100 points fortify magicka, 100 points fortify intelligence for 7 seconds should allow you to cost longer duration versions of the same spell (throw in willpower for regen speed), stack these to cast anything you want (level restoration)

100 points weakness to fire, frost, shock, and magicka for 5 seconds, make 2 of these and name them different things, they will stack so alternating between the 2 will cause you to do 4X damage for each cast (at least for the elemental spells) with each cast (IE: first cast you deal 4X damage, second cast 16X damage, et cetra.
