Knights of the nine - boring *spoilers*
Imagine a pastor sends you to visit some bible pedestals, and as a king james spiritual warrior in monty python armor you fight a faceless armor boss against a background of the imperial city you know so much, and it's all about church. Thank goodness that's over.

Yes, TES always had religious themes. Makes sense some of the games have whole DLCs dedicated to such things in this setting.
It is literally a pilgrimmage DLC.

I like it.
Church in a fantasy game?! That's what I don't like about oblivion. How about another dlc about baptism, oh and another one about foot washing. Jfc.
It's not bad imo

Some of the quests were unique to the game..but it's def. A far cry from what shivering isle is tho..

Shivering Isles is peak Beth imo..beats anything in Skyrim anyway

But yea, taking offense is ridiculous..it's just a allegory for midevil times and no religion from RL is included

Both Morrowind and Skyrim were messianic tales too.

It is almost like it is a huge part of the setting...

Shivering isles is indeed my favourite DLC in all TES games. Then again, Morrowind is my favourite game, so maybe I just like "bug and shroom".

Same thing they did in Morrowind.

TES plots and quests are at their best when they are trippy and insane. Take another puff, Todd!

So, I honestly don't remember much about it, but I am reading things about Infamy. Should I complete any, shall we say, "infamy-adjacent" story-lines before I start this?
That's about the level of writing in Oblivion. It's all super simple, shallow stuff. Loads and loads of it, but none of it is going to make you think. : p

Oblivion was indeed a big step down in terms of the philosophical underpinnings of the setting, when compared to Morrowind and Daggerfall.

Shivering isles brought back the weird, though, and I love it for that.
