Crash on casting offensive spell

I have no spell mods, only made some custom spells that have been working for a while. However, suddenly today, when I try casting my offensive spells, the game consistently crashes. Doesn't matter if it's a touch or target spell. Only self spells work

EDIT: Loading an earlier save in a different cell, going into the magic menu, equipping a self spell, casting it, then going back in the menu to do the same with a target spell worked. And now it works in a save that was previously broken. HOWEVER, something is clearly wrong here. If anyone has any fix info on this to prevent this from happening, it would be much appreciated.
