I'm only doing this for enchantment for my warrior. will it be worth it?? I dont even have enough magika to get soulgems filled
Also there are a few good items given out. The mage staff can be customized with 9 different options, including a nice soul trap effect. You get a good absorb amulet fairly early that is great if you are an atronach.
All in all it's decent to do if only for the first couple quests once you get the recommendations done.
its definitely worth it
you can enchant your gear with any type of soul gem, not just grand gems, in oblivion
eventually you probably won't be 'just' a warrior, and having the spell crafting station will be invaluable for your buff and custom skill needs
An alternative is Frostcrag spire, which does take a good bit of gold to get to the point of what you can access at the university. Soul trap isn't really an issue as there are tons of weapons you get with that effect on them. One of the orbs you get for clearing an oblivion gate allows anyone to enchant that effect on a chosen weapon.
I liked the mage guild quest line but it is definitely not required to be able to make your own spells and items, although it is probably the quickest path to that I can think of.
