I'm having the same issue. I got it last night and played it flawlessly, but now I can't even open the game.
I thought I read somewhere that games with a lot of save files had a negative impact on performance. That could be why people are seeing declining performance over time.
check your files and also don't have too many saves

That's a new one on me. I have 3 characters, each have 5 auto saved files, and I don't use any mods at all... 100+ hours in, never crashed because of this. Weird...

Try these Settings. I was having issues with various things when it came out, but since I adjusted my Settings to these, I get no lag, no stuttering, loading is quick, no crashes, and the game runs great and looks absolutely beautiful. Also, if you're using the new Sprint option, stop doing that.

I was getting black screen crashes on start up. I took out my graphics card and ram sticks. Then put it all back and made sure they were seated properly. I then ran a separate power cord from my supply to GPU instead of 1 cord and splitting. I havent crashed black screen yet.
I re verified my game files and it fixed. I had some modified things and possibly outdated mods as well.
Mine has slowly gotten worse and worse to the point that it crashes after every load in the open world. In the city the game is a slog. Ran smooth at the start.
I just fixed my game freezing by deleting the shaders file and letting it recompile them.

maybe that'll work for some of you.

How much ram do you have and how much ram is on your GPU?
