Ranger class
Hello!

Edit: thanks for the feedback guys! You were all very helpful! :)

Is this skill-set a good mix if I want to play a stealthy, nature based ranger?

Major Skills:

blade - was thinking of using blunt for using an axe. Axes are better for the wilderness for chopping wood. Went with blade on a lark.

alchemy - for poisons. I figure someone who spends their time in a forest would also be knowledgable about herbs.

restoration - for healing.

acrobatics - rangers are usually agile.

light armour - I think this is more fitting for a ranger

marksman - more ranger-y lore

sneak - see "marksman"

Would be nice to have nature summons, but we don't get those until Skyrim.

That sounds like a great combo of skills! What an interesting and fun time that would be, though I would suggest dropping blade altogether and instead get conjuration. You would have a better time, as conjuration can be tricky to increase early on. And you could still fight with a blade as a backup weapon (or great stealth killing weapon) but u would definitely want to go with a bow as your primary weapon. This game rewards specialization most, while kind of punishing generalizational type characters (unless you really have a lot of time to blow on one character). I'm playing something of a similar character build rn, though I regret not choosing restoration. That skill is awesome.

Me personally I would not take alchemy as a major skill. You will use it so much that the bonus would be spent better off on something else. Honestly I would put illusion in it's place.

Illusion because:
Control Creature, Control Humanoid, Frenzy and Chameleon. (You're better off with items for chameleon, TBQH)

Pretty solid overall as far as a roleplay build goes, though I'd argue to get some Mysticism in there, at least as minor skill worth investing in. Detect Life spells would be very fitting for a hunter if you plan on using magic.
I would dump Restoration for Athletics.

You already have Alchemy, which gives you healing. And also buffs and poisons. It’s also great for a non-magic build because it doesn’t require magicka to use.

Meanwhile, Athletics speeds you up and saves you fatigue. And the more fatigue you have, the better.

Running the same thing but dumped alchemy for athletics...

You'll end up dagger sneak attacking a lot of the time as you get 8x...Bow is to back off if you get caught

Plus I hate the menu system

Make your character a Bosmer (Wood Elf), they have Command Beast, I believe... to control animals to fight for you. That'll add to your role playing here.
