I love running
I just love running from city to city and fighting or running away from whatever creatures I see in the wilderness.

I do that because horses are too weak and mindless (being simple NPC logic entities). Tired of them getting themselves into trouble and being disabled permanently.

All the horses I've known IRL knew better.

I like having the map full of locations and making restore fatigue potions is easy

That just happens as a side effect of being averse to TES4 horses. (Real horses may be much, much more smelly, but they're much, much more nice and smart.)

Fortify Intelligence 100 points for 3 seconds on self, Fortify Magicka 100 points for 3 seconds on self > Fortify speed 100 points for 100 seconds on touch, waterwalking for 100 seconds on touch, by the time anything aggros you'll already be out of its cell, if you've got Shadowmere or a Black Horse that amount of speed for that duration can get you from the Imperial City to Leyawiin before the effect runs out if you run across the Niben Bay.

+100 speed on a horse is basically +300 speed for a player character.

Fast travel is a mistake. At least in Oblivion.

You have the option of not using it. Sometimes I do exactly that. I just hoof it to the next place and see what I can discover.
