maybe we can bring it back for Elder Scrolls VI. I want some of the weight of light armour, with some of the protection of heavy armour.

Light armour in the streets, heavy armour in the sheets.

I hope light armor is better with magic. And medium armor should be a little better.

Medium Orcish in Morrowind was definitely peak Elder Scrolls armor and fashion, rivaled only by the Crusader armor, which in a sane world would also be classified as Medium armor
