The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

ATTENTION: Developers
To the Development Team,

Your silence is deafening, and your negligence is staggering.

Oblivion Remastered was meant to be a revival—a chance to reintroduce a beloved classic with modern improvements. Instead, what you've delivered is a broken shell of a game, barely functioning after 50 hours of playtime on PC, riddled with performance issues, persistent bugs, and glaring quality-of-life failures that should never have made it past the testing phase—if testing even occurred.

Worse than the technical failures, however, is your complete and total lack of communication. Users have flooded forums, social channels, and support pages, desperately trying to understand why the game collapses under its own weight. You have ignored them. You've let confusion fester, and in that vacuum, you've created a hostile environment where users argue, blame one another, and attempt to fix problems they can’t possibly resolve—problems that only you can address, and yet won’t.

This isn't just incompetence; it's laziness, personified. You have shown no respect for your community, who trusted you, paid for this product, and invested their time and energy into it. Your silence has eroded that trust completely.

Retailers should not be selling a game in this condition. Players should not be expected to tolerate this kind of failure. And the fact that this entire mess could have been mitigated by even a single honest update or roadmap is a disgrace. Communication is free. You chose not to bother.

This isn’t how you treat a community. This isn’t how you treat a legacy. It’s how you burn one down.

Do better—or refund players their money for buying a product you have no intention of fixing.

Sincerely,

A Once Hopeful Player

To gamers that's what it was meant to be. To Bethesda it was meant to cash in on nostalgia and boy did they cash in. Todd is getting his Christmas bonus this year
First off I agree with everything you said.
Secondly, no dev is going to see this message let alone respond to it.
As you stated in your post. There has not been a single whisper from them about anything. They dropped a steaming pile of crap in our laps and left.
Thirdly, although not stated in your post. This is not a bethesda issue. All of the responsibility for updating and patching the game falls on virtuous studios. They are the team behind the remake. Bethesda is just the publisher.

Virtuous is a support studio. Bethesda takes 84 years to push out patch fixes, look at Skyrim, Fallout, and especially Starfield. Some of you are seriously impatient, but yeah let's push out a patch now, who cares if the patch isn't ready and whoops the patch caused even more issues!

Right. Do you think bethesda is in any rush to fix and patch this game? They have had 20 years to address and fix the problems and bugs that have been there since day 1.

They wait for enough mods which fix everything and add old stuff/mods back to the game and THEN they drop a patch screwing up everything achieved to this very moment letting all players get nuts because the patch has broken everything.

Seems like you are not familiar how to patch games these days :steammocking:

Literal quote from myself, and exactly why you won't get anything:

I didn't fall for the hype and played it on my infinite gamepass, then decided it was a skip.

After seeing MH:Wilds you should have known better.

You should also have known, when seeing so many influencers and others like "games news organisations" shill for this product, that it meant that the developers aren't worried about criticism.

Can't play the game? So what. You bought it and they got your money and there isn't a single thing you can do.

Oh, gonna complain on social media? So what? You won't get the attention of the video games media or influencers -- they've all shilled for the game and brought it universal acclaim.

Going to complain here? So what? You can complain here all you want, but your influence is still limited and people will still buy the game even with a low rating, because influencers are shilling it like MH:Wilds.

The situation is actually worse than MH:Wilds because this game has an original version that runs better, arguably looks better, costs cheaper, can be bought without DRM, has more mods, and even has more content that wasn't "cut" or "censored" -- and better physics!

The older one is literally superior in every way and the "authentic" experience, unless you like the "graphics" here which literally took an opposite direction from the original and became a soulless husk of what Oblivion really was.

But we don't need to go there, and stay on topic: this game isn't going to get fixed because there isn't any incentive to do so.

No financial incentive -- sold more than expected.
No social incentive -- no one is criticising the game; no one that matters.
No shareholder pressures -- they are getting paid from the record sales.

Nothing to make them do so.

Next time, when you hear a game is broken, don't fall for the influencer trap and take complains seriously because if not, you may be stuck with an overpriced disappointment when you could have got it from the bargain bin.

And your post is uselsess. They don't read steam forums.
Go to their social media if you want to talk with them.

Btw for the records: 70 + hours, no crashes, minor bugs, high fps.
Broken? no it's not. People just need to upgrade their systems.

They're in no rush. For them, it will be patched soon. To us, that's pretty much Valve time.

Fanbois are defending the game, why should Bethesda sell a better product??
I just wait for skyblivion.

Yep. And remember, they are actually objecting to basic communication i.e. "We're aware of it and we plan to fix it." Incredible they think that's unreasonable. Also amazing they're denying reality that IGN themselves say Oblivion Remastered is broken haha. Just amazing.
Totally agree. While the game is playable for me, the experience is by far not perfect, the game is riddled with bugs and the performance leaves a lot to be desired. We can only hope that the devs are already working on an update and are so busy patching the game that they have no time to communicate with us. Or am I being too optimistic?

DO BETTER OP!

DO BETTER!

Original Oblivion was a broken mess and still is. That is why the unofficial patch mod is so popular.

You young ones can pretend the original was ever in a perfect state but it was not.

Yeah the more I read the more I realize that gamers are responsible for the quality drop in games, not the corporations. Corporations are just doing whatever makes them the most money and if gamers are willing to accept slop then they're going to get slop
Bethesda too busy counting the money from paid mods and having modders fix their games for them.
