I'm not sure there is much that can be done to be honest. Every time I start the game it either doesn't load, or if it does it runs at either 60fps, 40fps, or 20fps, and may or may not have extreme stuttering and crashes. On occasion it does seem to work fine but it so rarely happens.

I kept trying for a few days after buying it then gave up. Disappointed to see there hasn't been a patch yet. In my experience it quite possibly is the most poorly working game I have ever bought.

Ultimate Engine Tweaks mod on Nexus in tandem with these edits:

[ConsoleVariables]
r.Lumen.DiffuseIndirect.Allow=0
r.AOHistoryDistanceThreshold=200
r.AOSpecularOcclusionMode=0
r.SkylightIntensityMultiplier=1.2
r.AOQuality=2

And make sure to set Global Illumination to medium or higher to avoid shadow artifacting.

I swear by these changes, its helped me play on high-medium at 2k on a 8600k/1080ti

Then you probably did something wrong as you should have noticed a considerable uplift with a 3060ti using theose edits. Also make sure dlss or fsr is on too.

Ryzen 3000 series was released 6 years ago, so that system is already vintage.

Try the following

Set game to 1080p high

Limit FPS to 30

Activate fram generation.

Should give you 50 - 60 FPS most of the time.

Input may feel a bit sluggish from time to time but Oblivion is no Fortnite or COD. So it is really not a game that needs fast input.

I don't think the norm for a game should be upscallers and fake frames generations, not to mention they are often used at higher resolutions and higher framerates for a reason.
I have to restart my game every hour to get my FPS back to normal, also on 3060ti.
Try playing until the FPS drops and then close and restart the game see if that helps at all

OP installs the game and clicks play.
"Damn bro you must have done something wrong"
As someone with a 7900 XT and a Ryzen 9 5900X paired with 32gb of VRAM, I will say this game is still pretty poorly optimized. My settings are mostly on medium at a resolution of 5120x1440p on XeSS performance. Some mods have released to make it a bit better, but it hasn't fixed it all completely.
The worst I've seen is the Arena with only 40-50 fps, while most outdoor areas are anywhere from 50-80 fps.

"upgrade your PC" mf what you want me to do, take a loan on a 5090? :ccskull:

This game needs a performance patch.

this will cause shimmering on trees. It enables SSAO without lumen but doesn't work well with upscalers which causes shimmering

Have you tried deleting you shaders? There is a full thread about it on this forum.
Charon May 16 @ 3:55am
-play the game at a reasonable resolution (like 1080p)
-compromise on FOV size (90 or below)
-settings to high shadows to medium
-screen space reflections off
-dlss performance
-either software RT low (better fps) or hardware RT low (looks better but harder on the system)

:D
