[NL] what is it?
I tried to change my horse's name. But the new name said [NL]Napoleon. I go to the filters in alchemy, therein Shield is now [NL]Shield and Burden is now [NL]Burden. In my character tab, Shield from my Lord birthsign is now [NL]Shield, and Fortify magicka from my Breton race is [NL]Fortify Magicka.

Netherlands.
sounds like a plugin is messing up your game or your plugins order has changed if your using vortex or mod managers or have installed mods that change the plugins order id suggest you revert it back

How did you try to change it? That's usually a sign you're using a mod. There's a mod specifically designed to remove those [NL] tags, too.
I install my mods manually and edit the plugins.txt. Something might be bad with the last one.
if u have edited the plugins.txt you have either changed the load order or installed a plugin incorrectly

Well, the mods worked :steammocking: except for that [NL] anoyance.
its not a case of it working its if you changed the order changing the order of your plugins list mess's up the game putting the NL tag in every item, spell or NPC

your plugins order should be as follows

Oblivion.esm
DLCBattlehornCastle.esp
DLCFrostcrag.esp
DLCHorseArmor.esp
DLCMehrunesRazor.esp
DLCOrrery.esp
DLCShiveringIsles.esp
DLCSpellTomes.esp
DLCThievesDen.esp
DLCVileLair.esp
Knights.esp
AltarESPMain.esp
AltarDeluxe.esp
AltarGymNavigation.esp
TamrielLeveledRegion.esp
(your mod plugins here)

Yep I place new mods at the bottom. But there was one causing the problem, removing it fixed it. Too bad because it was cool, it removed the stupid spell visuals clinging to your character sometimes even when you haven't even used the spell.
strange, best case scenario you could try that mod that removes the NL tags like desaix mentioned
OP you need this mod: you changed .esp text and this will remove the tag

Thank you, I'll keep it in mind. Fortunately the problem was fixed for now, and OTOH the mod you recommend requires script extender which I avoid like plague in all Beth games; because if Remastered is updated, the game is broken until the SE is updated.

Many mods use the old Oblivion Construction Set and XEdit to modify the resulting ESP files to work with the Remastered version. These mods are often missing localized String entries for the UE5 part of the game which results in the [NL] tags.
It's possible but not trivial to address this issue directly, but since the NL-Tag Remover mod exists, many mod creators don't seem to bother...

As mentioned before,

fixes the problem.

That's why you block steam from updating and launch the game from the script extender itself. Then you dont deal w that issue.

It doesn't need the script extender. I use the ASI version with Ultimate ASI Loader with the Steam version of the game, since I currently don't want to use OBSE64 either. Works fine but it might need an update as well, once there's a patch. We'll see...
