Are those gold veins that seem to last forever actually infinite?

A thing that basically caused me to forever stop playiong the game dungeon keeper was that gold was limited which meant if you didnt finish the level in a certain amount of time, you lose. Is it the same in this game? For now i havent had those veins run out on me yet but it makes me worried that theres an arbitrary time limit on the amount of time i can spend in each level

The gems last forever, the gold veins don't. There's usually 2 or more gems per map, always at least one

The maps are quite large and i dont want to dig out the entire map, is there an image that shows where they are on each map?

You really shouldn't need that, they tend to be lined up with other things quite well, and if you're that cheap, just try to dig big blocks outside of your dungeon, if one lights up yellow it's either gold or the gems
