Controller Support Just...Doesn't Work At All?

I just got the game, and despite trying two different controllers (PS5 Dualsense & then a PS4 with DS4Windows) the game does not accept any input from either. Both controllers confirmed to be working, settings have Steam Input enabled for the game. The controllers work on all other games.

What's weird is that in the intro cutscene, I could feel the controller vibrate from the footstep in the puddle. But no input works at all, whether in menus or in-game. I've had to navigate w keyboard & mouse but I cannot play like that. I'll have to return this if the controller support just doesn't work :(

Does anyone know how to fix this???

my controller didn’t work yesterday when my mouse was on another monitor. but from your post you were clicking in menu already.. weird.

also could try big picture mode.

Did you try plugging it in directly to your computer?

sometimes the divers are weird and won't allow the blue tooth to work.

I know the original elden ring let you play blue tooth.

but for exampel, lords of the fallen required the controller to be plugged in.

My controllers are plugged in not wireless.

Yes I can use keyboard/mouse normally, & all the glyphs show KB/M buttons even when the controller is plugged in & working on every other game.

so one last thing I can think of, there are actually driver updates for ps5 controls, and for windows, but normally you wouldn't need to install them.

you might look in to that, that's the last thing I can think of besides enabling or disabling it through steam.

I have this issue too. The ps5 controller only recognises the touchpad which it thinks is a mouse input.

Thats really p*ss poor game design if im honest.. even small indie games can get a controller working properly.

I have been playing this game for 4 months using ps5 controller and no issues so far, plug and play, I'm on Windows 11.

Try "8BitDo Wireless USB Adapter"
I use this dongle with a DS4 controller.
You pair to the dongle instead of the PC and Steam sees an xbox controller.

I think both Steam Overlay and Steaminput should be enabled.
