Greenwashing that insults your intelligence — DLSS / Ultrawide / FOV / 60Hz
An exceptional game… in its determination to reject any form of progress. A kind of retrograde manifesto, almost poetic in its stubbornness, actively resisting technological advancements. Elden Ring 2025 seems to be trying to protect players — from smooth performance, comfort, and modernity itself.

Everything feels designed to lock the experience into a bygone era:
– No ultrawide support,
– No DLSS to ease the load on modern GPUs,
– No FOV slider to enjoy the scenery without feeling claustrophobic.
Even the menus are stuck at 30 FPS — a nostalgic reminder not to move too fast, perhaps?

At first glance, you might think it's an eco-friendly statement: saving pixels, preserving electricity. But at this point, it’s just absurd. The experience feels rigid, dated, and frankly unpleasant — especially when today’s hardware is capable of so much more.

This is no longer a technical limitation — it’s a deliberate design decision. And not a very ethical one.

I very much appreciate this game for pulling away the UW trolls from the ER forum. (just here for the tea, tbh).

Ah, yes! The ethical implications of not implementing UW. Pray tell more!

DLSS sucks ♥♥♥♥ and it a crutch for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs

This dude is exaggerating, but the issues are real.
Ultrawide support costs nothing. Same for FPS unlocks. The only way this is a difficult problem is if you start developing not knowing your game is going to PC and do something stupid, like tying game speed to framerate.

DLSS is a shortcut to skip optimization at expensive of visual fidelity (Implementing OP graphics, to be forced to use DLSS and end up with messy/blurry graphics).

FoV is the one thing I'm not informed on.

I’m anything but a troll.
I’ve finished all the FromSoftware games.

I’m advocating and fighting against absurdities:
We’re told to care about ecology, but at the same time, we’re pushed to buy a Switch 2 just to play Mario and Zelda, and a PS5 just to play Demon’s Souls.
It’s time to stop exclusives.
Stop mocking players, start making better use of existing hardware, and reduce this unnecessary energy consumption.

Gamers are aging.
At a certain age, handling 60 FPS smoothly becomes harder.
To play comfortably, you need a good graphics card, a solid machine, and ideally a native G-Sync display (not just “compatible”) with a real sync chip.

Since the RTX 3000 series, I discovered DLSS, and starting with version 2.5, when you move the camera, the image stays smooth and pleasant. Honestly, I can’t go back anymore.

And to all those posting naïve, narrow comments:
Good for you if you can ignore all this and just play.
But for me, gaming is something incredible, vast, part of a complex universe with standards that should be respected.
Thanks to Steam (and Valve, among others) for giving us solid reference points for the past 30 years.

And finally:
I finished Elden Ring solo because I had to disable the security checks to play at 100 FPS, 21:9, with a modified FOV and my G-Sync screen!
The experience is so different that I swore I’d never go back.
And the best part? Everything runs perfectly — no distortion, no fixes needed, nothing.
So here’s the deal: enough with taking us for fools!

Dunno why everyone is so upset, OP is right.

Whatever this games uses (TAA?) is ghosting heavily.

80 fps cap with that low and fixed FoV hurts my eyes and makes me dizzy after a while. It's clear that this game was made solely to be played from a distance on a TV.

DLSS (and FSR) would very much be appreciated as it would improve image quality and performance quite a bit.

Knowing FromSoft, that will never happen though. Gotta hope that at least a mod with more camera controls and FoV settings will come sooner than later

Reasons I'm not immediately buying this game:

FOV
FPS
Don't trust that they didn't butcher PC controls like mouse sens/smoothing
Effects like vignette and dof etc probably not removable
Kernal level Anti-cheat malware from Epic/Tencent/China

plus so far it looks like Hyrule Warriors compared to BotW...

There is a strong cultural tendency in Japan to preserve established designs or methods so I didn't expect much to change, and although I can fix the issue for myself, it's not a great sign that even the very obviously flawed combined roll/dash button is not addressed.

If they would fix the first few points though I would probably get the game, but the anti-cheat thing is a bit of a hard one to overlook and as it stands the game would be too uncomfortable to play for very long.

many solo indie devs (every single one ive played games from) has ultrawide support day ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 1. 0 excuses for this bs
"no fov slider" makes it an obvious ragebait

Noone is upset, it's just that the OP is being dramatic over technical stuff a lot of people quite simply don't care about.

OP isn't even a real person. It's written by ChatGPT. Look at his other previous posts.

Usual stuff. People who feel guilty overspending on luxury hardware and feeding the greedy corporations into the crap they are today are struck by cognitive dissonance and want something/someone to blame for their bad choices.

Solution is simple: Play another game. If you like graphics so much, I suggest Crysis. It has everything you want, and won't bother you with meaningful gameplay mechanics, story, lore anything. Just as many triangles as possible.
