Why is my mod not working?
I tried to get rid of the whole CC infestation thing (I already have a working 'no invitation required' mod), so I made a mod where I changed the mash chance for CC critters in the vanilla dungeons to zero. No luck!

No debug output, directory structure is correct, modfiles.txt is correct, there's no conflict with other mods etc, I checked all those things dozens of times.

Now the crazy thing: if I overwrite the orginal files with my version, it works.

Has anyone a bright idea? Ethernal gratitude guaranteed...

Issue with the steam uploader? Do you mean when you manually install the mod it works but uploading the mod results in it not working?

No, I use the NoSteam exe. It doesn't work as a mod (e.g, located in <DarkestDungeon>\mods), it works if I overwrite the original files (usually a big no-no, but backup'ed + I can verify game files anytime).

My guess is you didn't overwite the file right, either the file names or the path structure.
CC's stuff is under /DLC, not in the regular /Dungeon

The darkest dungeon "mods" folder is borked - don't use it. It rarely works correctly.

Not true, it works exactly same way as workshop folder

It has never worked for me - and I know several other modders who say the same - is there something you need to do to make it work correctly?

Yes, I know, but sadly, everything's correct. I checked like 15x. Thanks for the input though.

Alot of mods work. You have a point though, it's not the only mod, that *should* work --- in theory. But just for sience: can I simply copy my mod in the steam folder *without* uploading?

Edit: Answer--no I cant. And I cant upload either cause the uploader bails out with an unhandled exception. Very helpful, steam. That's how you code error diagnostics. What a mess....

Mods in "mods" folder need to have project.xml and updated modfiles.txt (or just remove it), if your mods still don't work this way then they won't work as workshop addon as well.
