EDIT: ffffffffing steam censor
Anyway, I spend time making a mod only to discover the giant paywall after I already had my textures and data files which are now worthless unless I pay for this software which I can't do and I've been pretty darn irritated by that for the past couple of days. DD is an amazing game and I'd love to contribute to it, but am locked out bc of ffffffing spine.
Best of luck in your own endeavours, I hope I'll get to enjoy your mod(s)!
In the Essential version it is challengin to make your own skeletons and animations - but you can import the existing skels of the vanilla heroes, and use that as a base - that's what I do.
To the OP
-Make sure you are running Spine in version 2.1.27
-To import say the Walk Anim for a hero - go spine drop down - import data - travel to your dd directory - heroes - choose hero - anim - choose the skel you wish to import.
Then you just need to setup your art assets in the spine directory - and use art pieces to attach tio the existing skel.
I warn you this is not an easy process and a steep learning curve if you have no animation experience. Also there are some useful posts in the early days of steam workshop that include conversations between myself and one of the devs on details that are useful.
I will go look for those posts you mentioned.
Mind if you ask you some questions as well?
No problem.
From your experience, whats a good length for a walk cycle and or combat cycle? Is there anything I have to look out for? Like does the amount of frames used in either cycle have to be devideable by two or something like that?
I recommend loading up the walk animation of one of the heroes - you can see exactly how they are setup. Personally I just use one of the existing animations.
To be honest I use the Grave Robber walk skeleton for almost every class (especially the female one's). I also use Plague Doctor's walk skeleton for any class with a long robe/dress.
It took me sometime to figure out that in order to "IMPORT" the skel files I have to have the tool running in 2.1.27.
You told me as much, but I figured you meant exporting :D
Thanks, that helped alot!

And that flap could really use some deformation worth $299
Looks awesome!
Thanks :)
Hey there, long time ago, but i started recently working with spine. Only discussion I found on this topic.
Already managed to edit some animation and show them ingame.
Though i had to layer the png first and then put all layers together in Spine.
...BUT "loading up any animation", how would I do that? Since alle the pngs are onelayered and there is no JSON file.
