So I am new to the game and am unsure on how to activate downloaded nexus mods. If anyone can help me please leave a reply.

All of the Nexus Mods still stick to using normal folder pathing (if that makes sense). Once you download a nexus mod you need to unzip it and take a look at how that mod maker set their folder up. A good example would be skin mods.

Look at this one: https://www.nexusmods.com/darkestdungeon/mods/281/?

I would suggest making a folder on your desktop called DDNexusMods, and download them into that folder. Just makes it alot easier and keeps everything easy find. Now you should have a zipped file called "Female Crusader Skin". If you don't have an unzipping program I would suggest WinRAR. Double click on the "Female Crusader Skin" and it will open up so you can see how the mod was packaged by the author. This is extremely important becuase it can be chaotic inside some of those folders if it's packaged all wonky.

Now what you will see inside this file is a folder called "crusader_L"...which is exactly what you want to see. Click once on the "crusader_L" folder and now you want to "Extract" it to where the heroes folder is at. To get started, first you need to know where your "Darkest Dungeon" folder is located at on your computer. Mine is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon...and this is where all the juicy stuff is at.

Okay, now, since this is a "Hero" skin, you want to scroll down and find the folder that says "heroes". Open it up and now you will see all the Hero folders for the game. Find the "crusader" folder and open it. You will now see all the crusader skins that you currently for your game. The default ones for the game are crusader_A, B, C, and D. The creators of these skin mods will usually label theirs somewhere down the alphabet line. The "Female Crusader Skin" folder for the mod we are talking about is labeled at crusader_L. So as long as you don't have another folder in there labled that, it's okay. If you do ever run across that in the future, you would just rename it to another letter...example could be crusader_M.

So the actual "crusader_L" folder would be extracted into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon\heroes\crusader. So now you will have crusader_A, B, C, D (original ones), and now crusader_L.

Once that folder is in there, that is all you have to do. You won't get any boxes to check like on Steam. Once it's in that folder it is already activated. Now jump into the game, get your crusader, and start clicking through his different outfits. 1-4 will be the original crusader skins, and now the 5th one will be the new crusader skin.

Quick version....find mod on nexus, download it to a folder, unzip the file, extract the folder to whereever it needs to go in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DarkestDungeon folder.

Sorry I have to overexplain it. I don't know what your expericence level with mods is, and I just want to try to cover all bases for you.
