Assert Failed [...] line 936
Various saves will not load properly, crashing the game immediately with the following error:

"Assert Failed: (write_successful) Storage Manager::TransferFile in storage_manager.cpp line 936 couldn't write whole file? ESC to skip"

Deleting a slot and starting a new save works for a while but eventually that slot gets this error too.

Clicking on the letter icon instead of the name of the save file works for a while but eventually weird bugs start happening where certain runs aren't saved.

If anyone has any info I would be grateful.

Cheers

It's a problem with cloud save room, chances are you need to delete some old saves that have a lot of mods active.
Sorry for replying when the post is so old.

The problem is with DD cloud save data but i managed to work out around mine and it works now.
1) turn off cloud update for DD in steam lib by going, steam game library, right click on DD, properties, general and turn off cloud save
2) in any browser go to your steam cloud save files and then DD files. Now there should be a lot of files there. Depending on what slot you have used in DD profile_0 for slot 1, profile_1 for slot 2 and so on. You need to download every single file manually, delete part profile_0_ from every file profile_0_xxx.json and leave all files in format of xxx.json (e.g. persist.game.json)
3) locate your local save place for DD. If its windows its Documents/My Games/Darkest or File Propertiesx86/Steam/userdata/(your acc number)/262060(number for DD)/remote/
Here replace all files that are inside with downloaded and renamed
4) open DD and it should work... (it did for me)
5) can optionally enable Cloud Save now again
