Large corpse eater should be eldritch (not beast only)
It looks quite eldritch if you ask me =)

I agree. I think there are multiple monsters that need class edits.
Example: The Collector: Human/Eldritch. I think should be Unholy/Eldritch or even just Unholy. How is it human?

Eldritch is already the most common monster type so making more monsters Eldritch would make items against them simply too good.

Have you seen what the Collector looks like when he casts Show Collection? He's the Soylent Green of monsters.

Collector - Unholy. Agree. It's not human not eldritch.

What bothers me is some of the swinefolk are beast/human but others are just beast, and according to the boss narration, their origins aren't human at all.
Madmax Mar 21, 2016 @ 9:38am
Maybe because they're humanoid, their physiology is similar enough that things that damage humans more also damage them more? This wouldn't necessarily work with other humanoid enemies because they're either reanimated dead (all the Unholy types) or because their physiology is different from that of mammals (fishmen in the Cove).

Of course, the problem with that argument is that the only beast-only pigmen (according to the wiki,[darkestdungeon.gamepedia.com] at least) are the Swine Prince/King/God and Wilbur. Both definitely humanoid in shape.

I think the wiki is wrong. I think I remember the wretches not being human.

You're right, the wretches aren't human/beast, just beast. Which I guess fits, given that they're the most pig-like of the swinefolk.

BTW, in case of fighting against some Swinefolk enemies for example (they are Human / Beast), does the ManSlayer's Ring take effect, or it only kicks in against pure Human targets? Same for the quirks please.

It will tick the bonus effect if it has the Human target flag on them, other flags won't interfere.

I believe the reason why the large corpse eater is not an eldritch horror is because it's a .... Carrion Crawler https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrion_crawler (with a Darkest Dungeon twitst). The same appleis to the smaller corpse eaters too really.

They look like they should be Eldritch but a Carrion Crawler homage is the only reason why I can think they are not.

There's also the fact that the game doesn't qualify other "larger versions of existing animals" as Eldritch. Giant maggots aren't eldritch. Giant spiders aren't eldritch. Sure, eldritch influences might be behind their gigantic size, but that in and of itself isn't enough to justify an "Eldritch" classification. Much like being strange and spooky isn't enough to justify an "Unholy" classification: unholy enemies are exclusively the reanimated dead.

Thanks for the answer, that sounds great.

Wow. I thought large Spiders should be Beasts as they are just pure animals.
Of course seeing a half man half pig creature being Human/Beast raises the question why the fishfolk are being Elrdich instead of Human/Beast too. Or beasts can only be mammals? A dolphin is a mammal. Of course one can clearly see the Elcdrich influence on the pelagic Guardians though.

I suppose that's true, for the most part, the one exception being the giant jellyfish in the Cove. Then again, most normal jellyfish don't swim through the air, so I guess the Eldritch tag still fits.
