Talisman of the Flame and the Revelation skill
What's up with this? I've not gotten to the Darkest Dungeon, and even less so completing it, but I've seen that it rewards 3x Talisman of the Flame. The wiki says nothing more than it does in-game, and I can't find anything about a Revelation skill. None of the heroes has any ability called Revelation, and there doesn't seem to be any camping skills with that name either. Also, none of the bosses in the Darkest Dungeon has any abilities called Revelation either.

So, what is this Revelation skill? It may or may not be really obvious, but I can't find anything on it.

The Revelation skill is used by the Templar bosses in DD2.

This is what it does: It deals massive health + stress damage (approx 20 health/40 stress on non crit) on a single target, and it will be used every turn the boss is alive. The bosses get two attacks, so they always do revelation + something else

So basically every time you do DD2 you need at least one stress healer, since you only get 3 Talismans? And also, they count as trinkets I assume? That means you can only take one actual trinket for three dudes, right?

I can't wait. :v

Yeah, they're trinkets, meaning that three characters will have the talisman+one other trinket. The one that doesn't have the trinket you should just give the best trinkets possible.

You don't need a stress healer per se, though. The one character that is vulnerable to the Revelation skill should either be a high dodge character or a character with a lot of HP. Most effectively, you could bring a Houndmaster and/or Man at Arms with the talisman of the flame that can guard the hero without the trinket.

My ass has just been handed to me in DD2. Here's what I suggest:

The 4th member not having the trinket should either be a tank with stress reduction or a houndmaster constantly guarding somebody and buffing his own dodging stat in the process.

Yeah, I think trying to keep up with the stress damage directly is going to be tough. I mean, you might get lucky and avoid that character being hit too many times, but it's three long battles that you have to deal with it. IMHO, covering the unprotected character is probably the most straightforward approach.

A final note about the trinkets (spoiler for DD3/4)
Although it isn't clear or explicitly said anywhere, you don't need the Talismans of the Flame beyond DD2. Bringing them into DD3/4 is simply wasting your trinket spots.

Thank you all for your help!
I'll keep these things in mnid when I head there. Whenever that is....

Houndmaster or Man at Arms to guard 4th member.

You could also try and force a virtue on like a Leper or Abomination, as it makes them immune to the stress and heroes with virtues have a slightly lower chance to get targeted with Revelation.

Or just stack dodge on the 4th member...

My 'drew the short straw' character was the group's Jester, guarded by the group's Houndmaster or Man at Arms, whoever took their turn first. Since he ran around with the Bright Tambourine/another anti stress trinket I forget atm, calming crystal?, he 'only' took 20ish stress damage if the skill got a chance to hit him before guarding. Wasn't Revelation that did the poor bastard in though, it was the group gettign over pressured by the Templar's who have the blight attacks. God speed you magnificent jingle jangly basatrd, your sacrifice was not in vain /salute

Just a quick thanks to those of you who have made efforts to mark/hide possible spoilers and a request to everyone else to please try to keep this in mind in the future. Thanks!

I think that trinket is one of the worst things to come from this game. It's a one time use trinket for the final dungeon for an ability you know NOTHING about until you encounter it. It just screams of bad game design, especially in games like this.

I have to agree with you on this, i get the idea of dropping the amount of slots you had available, but the game shoul've been more clear

You get a warning when you try to leave for DD2 without this trinket. I think you will not have a change to beat all the dd missions first time without watching a let´s play video or some other things like that in preperation. But it´s the same with some other bosses I imagine. I do not mind much. You can prepare or you are in real danger to sacrifice heroes. Besides this is only one aspect once for dd2 missions as well as for the boss missions. I like that you only get three trinkets. That has unique tactical effect.

And here I am throwing this trinket in with all my party members in every map except for DD thinking it meant -100 stress -100 damage for everything X'D
